With the rise of micro-nano technology,micro particles and fibers has been successfully applied in the construction,environment,biomedical,etc.Based on electrostatic jet instability,the electrospray/electrospinning technology can be used in the preparation of polymer micro particles and fibers.This method is simple,efficient,and it has great potential for development.Under the support of the National Natural Science Foundation of China(No.51375444),this paper mainly accomplished the preparation of PS(polystyrene)microparticles and fibers by electrospray/electrospinning with the instability of the charged jet by means of experimental study.The superhydrophobic properties of experimental products were also studied.The main work contents and results are as follows:(1)The PS was used as solute,and the influence of solution characteristics on the final product was investigated experimentally.Three influencing factors were included:solution concentration,solvent type and addition of surfactants.The results showed that the mass fraction of the solution had a great influence on the viscosity,which was the decisive factor of the instability mode and the electrospinning product.THF was not suitable to be used as the solvent of PS alone.The surfactant could effectively inhibit the " beaded"structure.(2)The influence of the process parameters on the final products was investigated by using the PS/DMF solution.Four influencing factors are were included:the receiving device,the receiving distance,the voltage and the propulsion speed.The results showed that the drum is more suitable for the receiving device.In the case of low concentration solution(5wt%),the average diameter of PS particles increased when the receiving distance or the propulsion speed increased.The average diameter of PS particles decreased when the applied voltage increased.In the case of high concentration solution(30wt%),the average diameter of the PS fibers first increased and then decreased with the increase of the receiving distance.With the increase of the voltage and the propulsion speed of the solution,the average diameter of the PS fiber increased.(3)The hydrophobic characteristics of different PS films were investigated by measuring the static contact angle of water droplets.The results showed that when the mass fraction of PS/DMF solution was 5%,the contact angle of PS film composed of coarse porous microparticles was 158 ± 0.8°,and it has superhydrophobic properties.For the PS/DMF solution,the addition of SiO2 particles can increase the hydrophobicity of the final membranes.When the addition amount of nano-SiO2 particles increased,the super-hydrophobicity of the PS film increased.Using the double-nozzle co-spray technique,the durable PS films composited of particles and fibers were successfully prepared.The results of this paper can provide guidance for the preparation of polymer microparticles and fibers.The prepared PS products are superhydrophobic and can be used in superhydrophobic materials.
