Sucrose polyester(SPE)is a green natural surfactant which has been widely developed in recent years.After attaching a certain segment of hydrophilic or lipophilic groups to sugar molecules,the surfactants will not only have good surface properties,but also have better renewability,safety,mildness and biodegradability than those from petrochemical products.In this paper,SPE was prepared by phase transfer method,because of the low reaction yield,long route,much waste and high cost of this method,this paper innovatively proposed a production process during which sucrose was first properly polyoxyethylene etherified to liquid intermediates and then reacted with fatty acid methyl ester.The products,regardless of physical and chemical indicators,or application performance,were similar to SPE and the purifying process get much simplified with less waste and lower lost,which achieved the desired results and meet the environment requirements.First,SPE was prepared by phase transfer method.Main factors were discussed,and the optimum conditions were:phase transfer agent Cetrimonium Bromide was 2.5%(The percentage of the total mass of reactants),potassium oleate was 5%,methyl oleate/sucrose molar ratio of 8/1,reaction temperature was 130 ℃,reaction time was 10 h,catalyst was CH3ONa methanol solution(30%)and amount was 1%.Crude product purifying process:first washed the crude product with NaCl aqueous solution(the same weight as the prudct)once at 60 ℃,then washed with ethanol(the same weight as the prudct)5 times.The content of residual methyl oleate was measured by gas chromatography(GC)and amount was 1.5%,and the content of residual potassium oleate was measured by atomic absorption spectroscopy(AAS)and amount was 116.8 ppm.The degree of esterification of SPE was 7.15,the conversion of sucrose was 80.5%and the product yield was 77.2%.Then,sucrose polyoxyethylene ether was synthesized through sucrose and ethylene oxide ring-opening reaction,and the optimum conditions were:N-heptaae as solvent,solvent/sucrose mass ratio of 1/1,mass ratio of catalyst NaOH/reactant was 0.4%,reaction temperature was 90~100℃,stirring speed of 500r/min.When ethylene oxide/sucrose molar ratio was 4/1,the conversion of sucrose was 98.5%and the number of ethylene oxide attached to sucrose was 3.9.The product structure was identified by infrared spectra analysis(IR)and the content of ethylene glycol was 0.7%measured by GC.Then sucrose polyoxyethylene ether reacted with long-chain fatty acid methyl ester,and the optimum conditions were:fatty acid methyl ester/sucrose ether molar ratio of 8/1,reaction temperature was 140 ℃,reaction time was 8 h,catalystwas CH3ONa methanol solution(30%)and amount was 1%.Crude product purifying process:washed the crude product for 3 times with ethanol(the same weight as the prudct).The content of residual methyl oleate was measured by GC and amount was 0.8%.The degree of esterification of the sucrose polyether oleic acid polyesters was 7.67,the conversion of sucrose was 95.8%and the product yield was 92.6%.The effect of molecular weight of sucrose polyoxyethylene ether and different fatty acid methyl ester on the synthesis of sucrose ether fatty acid ester was studied.We obtained products with different properties and performances.Finally,the application properties such as formulation performances of SPE and sucrose polyether oleic acid polyesters were analyzed.SPE and sucrose polyether oleic acid polyesters had similar HLB value and good formulation performances.When used in shampoos to replace silicone oil ingredient,they could make hair smooth and add no oliy feeling,and could significantly improve its dry and wet combing properties.When used in cleansing cream,they could increase moisture level and improve using feeling. |
