Metal corrosion is a common phenomenon in our daily life,which not only results in increased consumption of metal resource but also potential disruption of people's normal activities.Being the most effective method of metal anti-corrosion,paint coating is widely adapted in many areas which attracted a lot of research interest.With people's increase awareness of environment protection,water-based paint gradually replaced oil-based paint as anti-corrosion agent,and more and more attention are drawn towards water-based paint research.Based on the current status and development of water-based coatings,the aim of this paper is to synthesis epoxy-modified acrylate emulsions in order to obtain an environmentally friendly water-based anti-corrosion coating material.The following studied has been conducted:(1)Traditional acrylic emulsion can be modified by seed emulsion polymerization process using n-butyl acrylate,methyl methacrylate,styrene as base monomer,and Glycidyl methacrylate(GMA)as functional monomer.Experimental results showed that under the condition of polymerization temperature being 80 ?,stirring-rate being 240 r / min,the amount of primer initiator being 0.25%,dropping amount of initiator being 0.375%,emulsion particle can be fully polymerized.With hard and soft monomer ratio of 0.7,GMA additive amount of 7.5% at 1/4 reaction time,the resulting emulsion particle size is small,the highest conversion rate can reach up to 99.42%.The results showed that the particle size is micro-nano level,product has pan-blue light,clear and transparent coating,better water resistance,hardness and tensile strength,solid content at 40%-50%.(2)A epoxy modified acrylate emulsion was synthesized with cycloaliphatic epoxy acrylate as functional monomer.The product was characterized by FT-IR TG and EIS.The results indicated that under Anionic/nonionic complex emulsifier system,the amount of initiator is 0.25%;adding 2.5% cycloaliphatic epoxy acrylate,the as-prepared product of its particle size with 100 nm had pan-blue light which presented a great storage stability.(3)To investigate how emulsion and film-forming aids influence the performance of coatings.The results showed that when using alicyclic epoxy acrylate as film-forming material,the ratio of powder and emulsion being 1,adding 2% film-forming aids,the coating was smooth and showed good performance.
