In this paper,two different types of monolithic columns were prepared.First of all,a monolith was prepared using hemin and 1-hexadecene(C16)as monomers,triethylene glycol dimethacrylate(TEGDA)as cross-linking agent,N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF)and isopropyl alcohol as porogens,dibenzoyl peroxide(BPO)and N,N-dimethyl aniline(DMA)as initiators.The morphology and structure of the monolith were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and surface area and porosity(BET).Compared with the monolithic column without hemin,hemin polymer monolith had higher permeability and better separation ability.The hemin polymer monolith was used to separate plasma,egg white and other protein samples.In addition,the monolith also had a good separation effect for small molecules.Secondly,a multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCNT)composite monolithic column was prepared by the redox initiation method.In the experiment,1-octene(C8)was used as monomer,TEGDA as cross-linking agent,propanol and 1-dodecanol as porogens,BPO and DMA as initiators.Hydroxyl functionalized MWCNT was embedded into the monolithic material.Then the MWCNT composite monolithic column was characterized by SEM,BET and mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP).Finally,the MWCNT composite monolithic column was used as the high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)stationary phase to separate the samples.Compared with the monolithic column without MWCNT,MWCNT composite monolith not only improved the separation performance of small molecules but also shortened the separation time.In addition,the monolith was also used for the separation of some complex protein.
