Polypropylene has good physical mechanical properties and chemical stability,high transparency,non-toxic,easy processing,good resistance to chemical corrosion and electrical insulation,which is widely used in packaging,chemical,construction,light industry,household appliances and other fields.The application areas of PP continues to widen,and has become necessary to people's daily life.But,like many other polymers,it belongs to flammable material,its limited oxygen index is only 17%.When it burns,it is prone to make a lot of drop,and the flame spread easily.So its application is limited.Therefore,the research on flame retardant for polypropylene is particularly necessary and important.In order to guarantee both environmentally friendly and flame retardant efficiency,nano-flame retardants and intumescent flame retardants obtained wide application in the field of flame retardant.In spite of this,the poor compatibility between polymer and flame retardant results in polymer mechanical performance degradation,and may affect other properties of the polymer.In order to ensure excellent flame retardant properties of the polymer,and shall not affect the other performance.So the new nano-compound with three component's intumescent flame retardants is dominant in flame retardant research in present.Organic zirconium phosphonate,because of its unique structure and properties has been widely used in the field of flame retardant,this article is based on the combustion and flame retardant mechanism of polypropylene,discusses the effects of organic zirconium phosphonate compounds synergistic fire retardant agents on the flame retardants properties of polypropylene composites.First of all,the polypropylene/ organic zirconium phosphonate?Zr?AE?3P short for ZrP?/layered double hydroxide?LDH?ternary compounds system was prepared by melt blending and the flame retardant properties of the material were studied.In order to study the synergistic flame retardant effects of LDH in combination with ZrP in the PP matrix,composites with different loadings were prepared.The structure,mechanical properties,stability,crystallization characteristics,flame retardant performance and carbon residue morphology of the filler and composites were characterized by Fourier infrared?FTIR?,X-ray diffraction?XRD?,Scanning electron microscope?SEM?,Mechanical properties testing machine,Thermogravimetric analysis?TGA?,Differential scanning calorimeter?DSC?,Vertical burning test?UL-94?,The limiting oxygen index?LOI?and Micro combustion calorimeter?MCC?.The results showed that the flame retardant effect based on a 1 : 3 proportion of LDH and ZrP was the best.Second,the graphene oxide-decorated organic zirconium phosphonate flame retardant?GO-Zr?AE?3P?,and neopentyl glycol phosphate intercalating graphene oxide-decorated organic zirconium phosphonate flame retardant?DPPA-GO-Zr?AE?3P?were successfully synthesized.And a series of PP/GO-Zr?AE?3P and PP/DPPA-GO-Zr?AE?3P composites were also successfully prepared.The structure,morphology,mechanical properties,stability,crystallization characteristics and flame retardant performance of the filler and composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction?XRD?,Scanning electron microscope?SEM?,Mechanical properties testing machine,Thermogravimetric analysis?TGA?,Differential scanning calorimeter?DSC?,The limiting oxygen index?LOI?and Micro combustion calorimeter?MCC?.The results showed that graphene oxide-decorated organic zirconium phosphonate and neopentyl glycol phosphate intercalating graphene oxide-decorated organic zirconium phosphonate flame retardant all are excellent flame retardant.Finally,three kinds of acids intercalating graphene oxide-decorated organic zirconium phosphonate flame retardant layer were successfully prepared.Three kinds of acids are neopentyl glycol phosphate?DPPA?,pentaerythritol diphosphate phosphoric acid?SPDPA?,cyanuric acid?CA?,respectively.A series of PP/DPPA-GO-Zr?AE?3P,PP/SPDPA-GO-Zr?AE?3P,PP/CA-GO-Zr?AE?3P composites were also successfully prepared.The structure,mechanical properties,stability,crystallization characteristics and flame retardant performance and of the filler and composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction?XRD?,Mechanical properties testing machine,Thermogravimetric analysis?TGA?,Differential scanning calorimeter?DSC?,Vertical burning test?UL-94?,The limiting oxygen index?LOI?and Micro combustion calorimeter?MCC?.Results showed that the neopentyl glycol phosphate,pentaerythritol diphosphate phosphoric acid and cyanuric acid intercalating graphene oxide-decorated organic zirconium phosphonate flame retardants all are excellent flame retardant.
