Because of light weight,softness,comfortable to wear,not easily wrinkled,good elasticity and so on,Ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer(EVA)foamshave been widely used in the manufacture of soles of athletic shoes and slippers.However,without any desliching treatment,the friction coefficient of EVA foamed soles are usually below 0.5,that is to say,the slip-resistance of EVA foamed soles can't reach the standard of security.Currently,the most common approach to solve the problem is to paste rubber sheet to the mainly stressed part of the sole,or to design different patterns on the sole.But as the rubber resources increasingly scarce,this is not a long-term solution for most manufacturers,and the production process is significantly very complex.To solve this problem,this paper is based onthe friction mechanism,by adding modified materials into EVA to increase the adhesion effect between the sole and the road surface,and then to improve the slip-resistance of EVA foamed soles.So the chosen modified materials should meet two conditions: first,the modified materials should have good adhesion;second,the modified materials should have good compatibility with EVA.Blend the chosen materials and EVA in different ratios,then foam the blending.The effect of the modified materials on theproperties of EVA composite foams were investigated.The main work was asfollow:The slip-resistance modification of polyisobutylene(PIB)on EVA foams was studied.PIB/EVA foam was producedusing mixture and blending method.The impact of different PIB content on themorphology,slip-resistance,desity,hardness,tensile strength,elongation at break,compression set,tear strength,TG was investigated.It was found that the slip-resistance of the composite foams significantlyincreased with the addition of PIB,the friction coefficient can be increased from 0.43 to 0.52 by adding just 1% PIB.The slip-resistance modification of three kinds of petroleum resin(C9,C5,white C5)on EVA foams was studied.Petroleum resin/EVA foam was producedusing mixture and blending method.The impact of different petroleum resin content on thecell morphology,slip-resistance,desity,hardness,tensile strength,elongation at break,compression set,tear strength,TG was investigated.It was found that the slip-resistance of the composite foams significantlyincreased with the addition of three kinds of petroleum resin,C9 can slightly affect the slip-resistance.However,because of the increasing of cell diameter,the physical properties of the composite foams is reduced to some extent.
