The surface quality,as a key index of the components quality,has a great influence on the reliability and operational performance.The barrel finishing is a mature surface finishing technology.Through the complex relative movement between grinding block and components,barrel finishing can remove burr and oxide layer,change the surface geometric features,improve the physical and mechanical properties of surface layer,increase the cleanliness level,comprehensively improve the surface integrity.Besides,this technology has some advantages such as simple operation,easy management,low processing cost,high processing quality and efficiency.Among them,centrifugal barrel finishing,because of high efficiency and suitable for mass production,has been widely used in manufacturing field.At present,in centrifugal barrel finishing,the determination of processing parameters is more dependent on experience and a large number of basic experiments,and lack of deep research.In evaluation index of processing quality,it is often limited to the common parameters such assurface roughness and metal removal.While the parameters such as surface removal thickness and edge radius lack necessary research.In processing results prediction,there are few scholars to study.In order to solve above problems,based on vertical centrifugal barrel finishing equipment,single factor experiment was used to study the effects of different processing parameters on surface roughness,surface metal removal,surface removal thickness,surface morphology and surface hardness of 45# steel specimens.Through design orthogonal experiment with interaction,the effects of different processing parameters on edge radius and edge metal removal were studied.The experimental results analysis indicated the order of the influence on edge radius,that was,barrel rotation speed,diameter of grinding block,processing time,and then is interaction among factors.Barrel rotation speed and diameter of grinding block had significant influence on the corner radius.All the interactions had no significant effect on the edge radius.Based on orthogonal experiment result,a multiple regression prediction model of surface roughness for 45# steel in centrifugal barrel finishing has been established.The model has been tested by variance analysis and experiments.The maximum relative error between the predictive value and the experimental value is only 10.5%.It meet precision requirements and can be used to guide experiment and future production.In this paper,the influence of different parameters on the surface quality index in centrifugal barrel finishing was studied.The surface roughnessprediction model has been established.It can provide a theoretical basis for the choice of processing parameters.To a large extent,it reduces the repeatability experiments,saves time and cost of exploring new product processes,which should be of great significance to promote the development and application of barrel finishing technology.
