Titanium dioxide semiconductor materials have great potential in photocatalysis and photoelectric conversion because their producing photo excited electron-hole pairs under the optical excitation. It is well known that raising specific area can improve the photocatalytic efficiency of titanium dioxide.Titanium dioxide nanotubes with one-dimensional nanostructures have higher photocatalytic efficiency compared with other nanostructured titania, because it has larger specific surface area, and is easier to separate photoexcited electron-hole pairs.Besides, the titanium dioxide nanotubes have a hollow structure to provide a larger modification space, which can be used to improve the performance of titanium dioxide.Even complex structure with a more complex, complicated structure and larger specific surface area can be prepared on the base of nanotubes. Therefore, the titanium dioxide nanotubes have always been the focus of academic concern and research. In this paper, the influence of the pulsed power supply and the direct current(DC)power supply on anodic oxidation were investigated. The output mode of the pulse power source was studied,it shows that the output method of 95% duty cycle and30 Hz frequency can optimize the experimental process by producing an excellent array of nanotubes when the other parameters are not changed. Then, the nanotubes with bamboo like morphology were prepared by using the alternating cycle voltage. Then, the growth mechanism of the bamboo nanotubes were proposed according to the experimental results. Finally, composition, crystal form, light absorbing region and electrochemical properties of nanotubes were carried out.It was found that titanium dioxide nanotubesprepared by anodic oxidation in organic ammonium fluoride electrolytes increased the response area to visible light, and caused higher photocatalytic performance.
