The Loess Torrent ecosystem is an important object of watershed management and research.Maintaining the water supply of the torrent ecosystem is an important part of water management in the Loess Plateau.In recent years,with the rise of the study of the earth's critical zone,domestic and foreign scholars began to recognize the regolith of the earth's surface is an important place for the earth's critical zone of rainwater storage,most of the water is stored in the regolith.The regolith is all the material from the surface to the bedrock,which has an important function of stormwater storage.Study on the ecological mechanism of torrent regolith stormwater storage has great significance to maintain the torrent of ecosystem health.Based on the theory of complex open system,this paper takes a typical torrent in the Loess Plateau called Sanyanjing of Shouyang County in Shanxi province as the study area.Using regolith mapping methods and geographical spatial analysis methods,this paper analyzes and identifies the ecological structure of the regolith of stormwater storage.Finally based on ecological mechanisms of regolith stormwater storage,this paper puts forward the erosion gully of loess governance model.This study shows that:(1)The storage characteristics of stormwater of the regolith are crucially influenced by its unique matter and spatio-temporal structure.The spatio-temporal variation of the material composition and structure of the regolith in different watersheds is significantly distinct,and the functional mechanism of the regolith stormwater storage is extremely complex.The use of quantitative methods to study these mechanisms is not feasible,therefore,Complex Open System Theory should be employed.There are ecological functions of catchment,store water,water purification,raising water,water supply and so on.If the stormwater storage functions of the regolith could come into play,this water could change into healthy “living water.” Regolith is a subsystem of watershed,which is connected to and interacts with other environmental features such as topographic features,habitat,geology,soil,atmosphere and human activities in the watershed.Future research should consider the basin as a complex and open system,the focus of the studies on watershed stormwater storage should be expanded from the Soil-Vegetation-Atmosphere continuum to the Regolith-Habitat-Atmosphere continuum.(2)Because the Loess Torrent Regolith is complex and open system,the conventional quantitative research methods can not reveal the nature of the watershed,and qualitative and quantitative methods should be combined.Therefore,the use of the regolith mapping method and geographical spatial analysis methods is an important way to accurately identify the regolith of stormwater storage ecological structure.The use of geographical spatial analysis methods can be used to analyze and identify terrain.The use of regolith mapping methods can carry out field verification and the terrain analysis results express.So that we can identify the ecotope is composed of Retention Basin-Headland.(3)The storage structure of the erosion gully of loess is mainly located in the regolith.The core of the regulation of the erosion gully of loess is to combine the surface habitat and the underground regolith organically.The use of regolith mapping methods geographical spatial analysis methods can accurately identify the ecotope composed of Retention Basin-Headland of different scales.Analysis of erosion gully of loess according to the ecotope can rationally allocate plant material and normally play watershed regolith of stormwater storage function.Erosion gully of loess governmence model based on ecological mechanisms of regolith stormwater storage accords with the natural ecological law of the erosion gully of loess.It has reached a comprehensive and extensive treatment of the erosion gully of loess,so as to realize the torrent's ecological goal of near natural.
