Friction Stir Welding is a solid-phase welding technology.Due to its uniqueness and superiority of friction stir welding,such as green,pollution-free,low-power,it has got widespread concern by the welding industry since its invention.It also has been widely used in aerospace,shipbuilding and other fields.There are also some problems,such as selection of welding parameters,stirring tools' design and the force monitoring of the stirring spindle,which are need to be solved.These problems have a direct relationship with quality of the weld.In this paper,by the summary of the principle of friction stir welding technology and development.Key technologies of friction stirring welding equipment are studied,including welding parameters' optimization,stirring tool structural design and the force monitoring of stirring spindle.Based on one-way pressure sensor,the force monitoring platform were designed to solve the force monitoring of spindle during the welding process,which can be used to offer experimental data to the optimization of welding parameters.The main content of this paper includes:(a)Welding parameters' selection.This chapter calculates the thermal input of the stirring tool based on theoretical calculation of the principle of friction stir welding of the workpiece,then gets the suitable welding parameters used to welding workpiece.And then through the establishment of the finite element model,the calculated welding parameters for the welding process,the temperature field analysis,to verify the accuracy of the friction stir welding heat input model to provide a theoretical basis for optimizing the selection of process parameters.(b)Structural design of the stirring tool based on the flow field analysis.This chapter gets the law of the flow field during the welding process by the flow field model of welding process.Then the use of the material flow rule to guide the structural design of stirring tool,and the structure of the stirring tool is also verified.At last a programme based on VB language is developed to design the stirring tool quickly for the practical application.(c)Research and Implementation of force monitoring of the stirring spindle.Several force monitoring programs are offered according to the characteristics of the welding process.After analysis and comparison of these programs,the program which composites of one-way pressure is used.It also completed the detailed design of the program,processing and related parts.(d)Welding experiment's validation.Use the welding parameters obtained by finite element analysis and the stirring tool design to carry on the experiment.Finally the welding experiment is successful.The weld quality test's performance also shows that the analysis of the data is in line with welding requirements.
