With the development of society,the safety and comfort of cloth are paied more and more attention in the special workplace,ordinary fiber clothing suitable for wearing but it is not competent for protecting the health and safety of staff.Thus,a kind of fibers with high performance and suitable for wearing is needed urgently to develop and promote.Polyphenylene sulfide(PPS)fiber is a new high-performance fiber,which has excellent chemical resistance,excellent thermal stability,flame self-resistance,no droplet and excellent mechanical properties,widely used in environmental protection,aerospace,automotive,electronics,machinery,textile materials and other fields.But the rigidity of the PPS fiber ' macromolecular chains is strong and supple poor,result in low moisture regain(?0.4%)and not comfort for wearing,limiting its development and application in the clothing.In order to solve these problems,the research group did hygroscopicity modification in order to improve the moisture regain property and wearability of PPS fiber.By adding 5-Sulfoisophthalic acid monosodium salt(5-SSIPA)and amino nano silica(A-SiO2)in the PPS matrix to preparate modified PPS mother particles by twin-screw extruder,then melt-blend spun modified PPS fiber.The structure and performance were characterized and studied by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(IR),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),field emission scanning electron microscopy(SEM),strength tester and orientation degree tester.The results showed that:5-SSIPA and A-SiO2can play the role of heterogeneous nucleation agent,improving the fiber aggregation structure,when the content of 5-SSIPA no more than 1%,A-SiO2 no more than 2%presented good compatibility with the PPS and good dispersibility,modified fiber spinnability was good;After treatment by alkali,the moisture regain of 1.0%5-SSIPA/PPS fiber and 1.5%A-SiO2/PPS fiber were improved 5.98 times and 3.83 times than pure PPS fiber,reached 2.39%and 1.53%respectively.To further improve the fibers' moisture regain,optimize the 5-SSIPA dispersion,the research group prepared of the modified round and shaped A-SiO2/5-SSIPA/PPS fibers.Testing and characterization results showed:when the content of A-Si02/5-SSIPA was 1.5%,the spinning processability of A-SiO2/5-SSIPA/PPS modified fiber was fine,after alkali treatment the surface of the fiber appeared microporous and trenches,greatly improved moisture regain,circular and shaped fiber' moisture regain was up to 3.23%and 4.0%,satisfied the requirements of wearing.
