Plastic products as food contact materials were loved by vast number of consumers, attributed to their lightweight, attractive appearance, the great variety of plastic products brought convenience to our life, but meanwhile it also brought the corresponding health problems. Most of the plastic products were polymers, and some chemical additives were added to improve their performance in the production process.A variety of volatile substances were contained in these additives.Volatile substances in the plastic products were released into the air or the food through secondary processing,it will pollute air or cause a potential danger to the human health.A method of headspace gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(HS-GC/MS)was established for 32 VOCs in food contact material plastic articles. The migration of styrene and toluene in acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene polymer(ABS)and polystyrene(PS)plastic products was studied. The main contents are as follows.1.A method of headspace gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(HS-GC/MS)was established for 32 VOCs in food contact material plastic articles by optimizing the incubation temperature and time of headspace, the kinds of column and solvent. The plastic products was cut into less than 2 mm × 2 mm of particle, then displaced into 20 m L headspace bottle,50 ?L chromatography pure methanol was added, and sealed immediately. The optimized incubation temperature and incubation time is 90 ? and 40 min, respectively. An external standard method of GC/MS was used for quantitive determination of 32 VOCs.The LOQs of 32 VOCs were less than 5 mg/kg,and the linear range ranged from 0.025 to 0.50 mg/L,the coefficients of correlation were greater than 0.9975.The average recoveries were from 75.2% to 108%,relative standard deviation(RSD)is between 0.4~9.7%(n = 6).The method has the advantages of simple operation, high sensitivity and good accuracy, and can be applied to the detection of volatile substances in plastic products of food contact materials.2.Four types of food simulants including 3%(w/v)acetic acid,10%(v/v)ethanol,olive oil,and distilled water were selected for acidic foods, alcoholic foods, lipophilic foods and hydrophilic foods, respectively, according to COMMISSION REGULATION(EU)No 10/2011.The migrations of styrene for ABS and PS plastic products under different immersion temperatures and time in the above four simulations were systematically studied. As shown in results, the migration amount of styrene in the four simulations increases with soaking time and temperature increasing.Furthermore, the migration amount of styrene was largest in the 50% ethanol simulator, followed by 3% acetic acid, the olive oil and the distilled water.3.The migration rules of toluene in ABS and PS plastic products were systematically studied using the same way as that of styrene.Under 70 ? of the immersion temperature, the migration test was carried out from 1 h to 24 h with intervals of 1 h.The toluene in the four simulated solutions was not detected(DL?0.005 mg / kg). When the soaking time was 2 h,the toluene was also not detected(DL?0.005 mg / kg)with immersion temperature in range of 40~100 ?.
