| For air being a main medium of disease transmission, air sterilization in confined space of public places is an important way to protect public health and safety.Unfortunately, air sterilization in human activity area has still been a worldwide problem. At present, the safe and efficient resin polyiodides, being sprayed onto thesurface of activated carbon fibers directly after being smashed, which were used as filter cartridge, show good bacteria effect. However, its short comings, such as easily falling off, poor stability, heavy causticity and short active life, all confine its applications for air sterilization. To solve all these problems,a new type of polyiodides-activated carbon fiber material was developed and prepared. In this paper, the newly air sterilization material was designed:the safe and efficient polyiodides were grafted onto the surface of activated carbon fiber by silicone quaternary ammonium salt using as coupling agent. In this process, activated carbon fiber, which has high specific surface area, acts as carrier. Then the preparation conditions of the newly air sterilization material was studied.Firstly, the activated carbon fiber was dried in high temperature. Then the effects of concentration of oxidant, oxidation temperature and time on the number of oxygen-containing functional groups on the carrier surface were studied. In this step, the number of oxygen-containing functional groups on the carrier surface was determined by Boehm method. Then the coupled reaction of silicone quaternary ammonium salt being grafted onto the surface of activated carbon fiber, latter then the effect of pack up ratio, concentration of organosilicon quaternary ammonium salt, reaction temperature, time and pH value and other factors on grafting ratio were studied. Finally the ion exchange reaction of polyiodides and organosilicon quaternary ammonium salt which was grafted onto the activated carbon fiber, simultaneously the effects of degree of polymerization, concentrations of polyiodines solution, different kinds of solvents, amount of stabilizer, reaction time, temperature and different preparation process on grafting process were investigated. For further study of the new composite material of polyiodides-activated carbon fiber, which was used as disinfection filter in an air purification machine, its molecular structure and the surface composition were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrum(FTIR),Raman spectrum,X ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and scanning electron microscope(SEM);In addition, the corrosive property, life time and air disinfection properties and performances were characterized and determined. The results show:the polyiodides/organosilicone quaternary ammonium salt/activated carbon fiber sterilization material can be prepared by the methods of modification, coupling and ion exchange. The number of oxygen-containing functional groups increases 2 to 3 times after the modification to activated carbon fiber by oxidation methods of nitric acid. The percent of organosilicone quaternary ammonium salt, which was successfully grafted onto the surface of activated carbon fiber, would be up to 10%after the use of organosilicone quaternary ammonium salt coupler.Through its reaction with organosilicone quaternary ammonium salt, the polyiodides, whose component is of I-3 and I-5,would be grafted onto the surface of activated carbon fiber stably. The air sterilization of this material shows highly 99.96%sterilization rate,as long as 8 months application life and no visible corrosion marks to stainless steel and brass. In this paper,a new type of air sterilization materials of polyiodides was designed. The polyiodides molecules are successfully grafted onto the surfaces of activated carbon fiber by our invented preparation method. The newly prepared material solves the problems of present polyiodides used in air sterilization, which provides a new way for the air sterilization in confined space of public places. |
