Spur gears are one of the important mechanical transmission components,which play an important role in automobile,aviation and other mang fields.With the rapid development of society,the traditional cutting process has been far from meeting the needs of the market.Therefore,many domestic and overseas experts and scholars devoted themselves to researching and developing spur gears,and precision forging forming technology of spur gear has been developed and applied in production rapidly,which beomes one kind of the forming process of high efficency,high precision and low cost.By contrasting to three different forming process,FEM simulation software is used to simulate and analyze the hole divided flow forging forming,floating die forging forming and closed-die forging forming respectively,and the results showed that: as for closed-die forging process,the middle part of gear tooth was formed at first under the extrusion of upper and lower punch,and mental flow to the corner of the upper and lower ends,so it is good to filled the corner of the spur gear.However,hole divided flow forging and floating die forging process still exist the difficulties of filling the gear tooth profile,at the same time they need a larger extrusion force.At the same time,the equivalent stress and the maximum principal stress of the three kinds of forming processes are compared and analyzed.This paper also analyzes the effect of extrusion speed and initial temperature of the billet on the extrusion force during the process of closed-die forging.The simulation results show that the extrusion velocity has little effect on extrusion force,however,the initial temperature of the billet has a obvious effect on the extrusion force,Finally,this paper analyzed the point tracking and defect of the spur gear tooth profile in the forging process of the forging.Therefore,numerical simulation shows that the closed-die forging forming process of spur gear has better process properties,which provides theoretical basis for future production and application.
