With the rapid development of vessel industry,our shipping comprehensive technology has been greatly improved but, at the same time, the development of damping and noise absorbing technology are slowly. Damping materials has already been the focus in the field of ship property research. With complex vessel structure and various circumstance of marine service, good performance like high damping properties, high strength, good corrosion resistance and aging resistance are required. Traditional rubber cannot meet the need of real application under complicated working conditions. Thus, it is necessary to improve and promote rubber properties.This essay discussed SiC/NBR composite materials. NBR was the matrix and different diameters of SiC particles (0.5?m, 5?m, 10?m) which were modified by KH550 silicon coupling agent were filled in to promote NBR properties. The composite was prepared by physical mixing. The vulcanization property, mechanical property, damping property, heat resistance and aging property of composite were tested. In this article, the changing tendency of the composite which modified by different fillers with various diameters and amount was explored. Meanwhile, the optimum of fillers, diameter and amount was obtained by observing micro-fracture and XRD pattern. The enhancing mechanism was discussed briefly.The results showed that the addition of modified SiC fillers accelerate the process of sizing materials curing reaction. Vulcanized processing property of NBR was improved, and so were the hardness and tensile strength. The main reason of the enhancement was the interaction between the surface active groups of SiC particles and NBR matrix. When the addition amount of SiC (0.5?m) was 15%, the composite showed the best performance.SiC/NBR composites had great structural vibration and viscoelastic damping effect which made it capable of absorbing vibration and noise effectively; When the addition amount of SiC (0.5?m) was 15%, the loss factor of composite increased up to 0.8493, the range of effective damping temperature became 30.71 ?, and the ratio of damping reached 0.244 under the first natural frequency.Tensile strength and breaking elongation of SiC/NBR composites decreased due to the thermo-oxidative aging reaction. SiC filler that with smaller particle size could improve its thermo-oxidative aging property.When the addition amount of SiC (0.5?m) was 15%, the composites had the best oil resistance property at 150?, the volume and weight changing ratio of the composite in oil #1 were 6.24% and 5.01% respectively, while they became 9.85% and 5.41% in oil #3 in the same condition.
