Located in the District of Huangshan Mountain,southern Anhui Province in Huangshan City,Taiping Lake is the largest artificial reservoir lake in Anhui province,and has been listed in the second phase of national ecological environmental protection plans by the Ministry of Environmental Protection.Taiping Lake has also been included as one of the 15 lakes under special state protection.This study investigates the conditions of water quality not only in the main lake area in Tai Ping Lake,but also in its tributaries,in order to further evaluate the performance and effects of the wetland protection project in Taiping Lake district,so as to form better resolutions to the water quality protection through comparative analysis specifically on the 6 major water quality indicators.The investigation focuses on the January 2011 to December 2016 time period.The results of this research and analysis are as follows:1.The water quality in Taiping Lake has already reached the national class II standard of water quality.The water quality in 2014 and 2015 met the national I standard of water quality,however,the overall water quality standards in 2016 began to decline to the national ? standard and all test indicators in the water started to show a downward trend.2.The water quality in the main district of TaiPing Lake maintains national I standard in the rainy season,but remained at the national ? water quality standard during the dry season.The Ammoniacal nitrogen content in 2011,2013 and 2016 during the dry season reached the national ? water quality standard,while the amount of nitrogen and phosphorus reached the national? water quality standard during the dry season of 2016.3.The assessment of water quality for rivers into the TaiPing Lake(except TN)have all reached the national ? standard of water quality.A synthetic analysis of the water quality of Taiping Lake's five major tributaries ranked them as follows,from highest quality to lowest quality:Shuxi River,Qingxi River,Yangxi River,Machuan River and Puxi River.Relatively speaking,the water quality of Puxi River is the worst and Machuang River's next.4.In 2016,the five river's total nitrogen concentration reached the National IV water quality standard.The water quality in Qingxi River in September reached the national V standard,while Shuxi River reached the national V standard in both November and December,or moderate pollution.In March and November,Puxi River reached the national V standard,which is moderate pollution,and even worse in September,reached the "bad V"standard,which is severe pollution.TaiPing Lake's overall water quality remains above the national II water quality standard,which is excellent water quality.Besides,the index tests of its water quality especially the contents of dissolved oxygen,potassium permanganate showed that the water quality of Pinghu has been partly stabilized on the national I water standard,which further demonstrates that the wetland protection project in TaiPing Lake District has already achieved the anticipated effects.However,the content of total nitrogen in the water quality of the main lake region is still too high,which is higher than the national II standards.On the whole,the water quality in the main Lake District of TaiPing Lake at the moment is superior to the water quality of the tributaries,and the tributaries have become the main source of water pollution in the main Lake District of Taiping Lake.The next step is to repair and improve the water quality of the tributaries.
