Suitable For Single Arm Cleaning (Tableware) Tool Design Research

With the increasing pace of life,various product designs convenient for life have emerged and traditional chores have become simpler and more convenient.Even some products have been designed for certain special occasions,such as products convenient for the handicapped or people with other barriers.It is just under this background that this paper discusses design principles and appearances of one-arm cleaning tools for tablewares,which are mainly designed for the disabled with one arm.An emphasis is laid on analyzing physiological features,behavioral traits and tableware fixing methods by questionnaire,interview and observation.In this process,possible acts and order different handicapped people would have and follow in operating the cleaning device are simulated.Subsequently,most one-arm handicapped people's major cleaning techniques,cleaning methods and used appliances for cleaning tablewares are investigated.Meanwhile,several fixture methods are comparatively analyzed to statistically compare the results.After understanding features of various products and some characteristics of the handicapped with one arm,Pertinent design ideas convenient for the handicapped with one arm to clean tablewares are put forward and one-arm cleaning tools(for tablewares)are designed based on analysis in combination with needs.The significance of this design is to enable the handicapped with one arm to better enjoy their life,turn their daily burdens into motives and improve their living standards.In the meantime,this design is universal and also adaptable to the masses.Characterized by low costs,easy operation,integrated cleaning and fixing,it cannot only save time and increase work efficiency for the handicapped with one arm,but also makes barrier-free designs more humanistic.On the other hand,an attempt is made to fill psychological emptiness of the handicapped with one arm and make them feel warmth with tiny products,in order that designs can become bridges for delivering warmth but not pure designs.Meaningful lessons and references are available from this paper for relevant designs for the handicapped with one arm.
