A Study Of Contemporary Wedding Dress Design From Multiple Values

As an indispensable part of wedding ceremony,wedding clothes have been casting a significant effect on wedding ceremony in all ages.Wedding clothes differ in style account for the differences in periods,regions,nationalities and customs.In ancient China,people had single value orientation or value choice and they even had no rights to choose personal value and lifestyle for two reasons.One is that economy has a dominant impact on ideology.The other is the restriction of social hierarchy under the single economic pattern.Traditionally,clothes must be in accordance with a country's major ideology,besides,clothes represent one's identity,status,and dignity as well.Nobody has courage to challenge the social hierarchy in such a monarchy country with centralized feudal monarchy.While in modern society which is democratic and highly developed,Chinese traditional costume is regarded as a ceremony sign,and no longer the indication of the social hierarchy.It had even been replaced by western wedding dresses which was once popular with the introduction of western culture.As Chinese traditional awareness' recovery,modern wedding dresses has gradually developed a multi-cultural integration trend and shown characteristics of nationalization,personalization and fashion.The diversification of social values makes the proliferation of type and no longer one style and for all.This article mainly discussed about the influence of the contemporary values on wedding dress style's change.The first part sketched out the development of ancient Chinese traditional wedding dress and the phenomenon of conservative wedding dress aesthetic judgement under monism values.The second part mainly aimed at the thought of multiple values under the market economy,briefly described three representative forms for the development of the contemporary wedding dresses.The third part elaborated diversified development tendency of contemporary wedding dress design under the influence of the different values from various angles.The fourth part discussed the innovative design concept and prospect analysis.
