In urban area where people live in,mosquito naturally select ponding in the outside as their breeding site.An outdoor water treatment system provides a favorable environment to mosquito that may make it a potential breeding place and virus transmitter. However, traditional environmental assessment on water treatment usually only focus on the final water quality and operating condition without assessment on the ecological risk. This study was supported by National Natural Science Fund project The Research on Coordination Relationships between Urban River Water Environmental Restoration and mosquito Breeding(51278192)and the special fund for talents of Putuo district The Environment Restore and Secondary Disaster Control of Urban Rivers. The experiment lasted for one year.It was based on the investigation of mosquito biodiversity including distribution and seasonal dynamics, the analysis on water quality, and the hypothesis on the environment factors affecting mosquito breeding. The conclusion can be outlined as following:(1)The outdoor water treatment testing system provide a favorable environment for Culex pipiens pallens.(2)The amounts of mosquito rise in spring, decrease in summer, rebound in autumn, disappear in winter. The dominant species is Aedes albopictus in July and August, and become Culex pipiens pallens in other period.(3)Mosquito in immature stages and adult stage correlate deeply in quantity, but differ in biodiversity.(4)Water with high organic nitrogen and phosphorus is an ideal place for Culex pipiens pallens larvae to live.(5)Lemnaceae and Azolla imbricate usually play a negative role in the breeding of mosquito.(6)Although predators can decrease the density of larvae drastically,it is impossible for them to inhabit in over polluted environment.(7)The breeding of mosquito is limited by both high temperature and low temperature, especially high temperature.(8)Wet weather is good for the breeding of Culex pipiens pallens, but continuous rainy days or heavily rainy days may restrain it.
