In recent years,3C industry has gradually developed into a emerging industry in the world.As the demand for 3C products in the market increased,the number of 3C products increased dramatically.At present,the metallic shell has gradually become a trend,the high-end 3C products has generally adopted aluminum or magnesium alloy into its metallic shell,the surface quality of metallic shell has a direct impact on the appearance and touch-feeling of 3C products.The appearance quality of metallic shell mainly depends on the capacity of high-precision grinding and polishing.Currently,most of the domestic manufactures mainly use the workers to manually grind and polish the metallic shell of 3C products,which results in low produce quality and efficiency.Therefore,developing automatic grinding and polishing equipment for metallic shell of 3C products is of great significance to improve processing accuracy and production efficiency.In this paper,aiming at the problems above,our team developed a five axes machine tool.This paper mainly research on the path planning for grinding and polishing metallic shell of 3C products.Based on the structure type of the five axes machine tool and the structural features of the metallic shell of 3C products,three different forms of paths were planned for the different parts of the metallic shell of 3C products.The pre-processing of NC machining is analyzed.The CC points of different forms of paths were generated by the 3D model of the metallic shell of 3C products,and then obtain the CL points of different forms of paths through the calculation,complete the conversion of the initial data from the 3D model to the CL points.The kinematics model of five axes machine tool was established and the kinematics analysis was carried out.The kinematic solution formula was derived and the conversion of the CL points to the NC codes was complete.The NC programming software for grinding and polishing metallic shell of 3C products is developed based on the MATLAB/GUIDE tool,which can integrate both the pre-processing and post-processing algorithm,generate NC code files easily and quickly and improve the programming efficiency.The VERICUT software was used to simulate the process of grinding and polishing the metallic shell of 3C products based on the five axes machine tool,which verified the rationality of the path planned and the correctness of the generated NC codes.In addition,collision interference and over travel detection were carried out.This paper studied the grinding performance of the metallic shell based on the machine tool,tested the overall performance of the machine tool,tested and verified the rationality of the path planned and the correctness of the generated NC codes.The influence of different paths on the surface quality and effectiveness of metallic shell of 3C products and seeking the best and the most efficient grinding and polishing path through the experiments were the fundamental purpose.
