The Dangang,Xichuan,Henan site is located in Danjiang river basin, its superior location has contributed to the prosperity of the local culture.Since its discovery in1994,Dangang site has been excavated several times, and has achieved fruitful results. However, there are still no studies on the pottery of Dangang site using modern analysis techniques. In order to explore the characteristics of the Dangang site pottery, this paper selected some pottery samples of the Qujialing and Zhou Dynasty, using modern analytical technology to study the pottery and explore the relationship between the pottery of each period. In this paper,we use X-ray fluorescence spectrum to measure the chemical components of all pottery samples, and then use the factor analysis, discriminant analysis and cluster analysis of the multivariate statistical analysis to deal with the data obtained.it can concluded that the material source of the samples of each period;using gap and thermal expansion instrument to measure the physical properties and the sintering temperature of some samples,to explore the sintering process difference of the sample in each period;using X ray diffractometer to analysis the phase of some samples in each period,in order to ensure the mineral composition of the sample in each period;using scanning electron microscope to observe the microstructure of the selected sample to get the microcosmic pattern of the samples; The conclusions are as follows:The sample sources of raw materials of Qujialing and Zhou Dynasty are basically the same but relatively scattered.Relatively speaking, the material sources of the late western zhou dynasty is different from other times. The local people lived in scattered of the Qujialing and Zhou Dynasty, but the distance is not too far away.In the late Western Zhou Dynasty, the local people's residence may be slightly different from other times, but not far from them. The water absorption and porosity of the samples of Qujialing and late Western Zhou Dynasties is larger. The water absorption and porosity of the sample is smaller in the early, middle, late spring and Autumn period and early Warring States period.Thecompactness of the Qujialing and late Western Zhou Dynasty sample is lower than other period. And the water absorption, porosity, density and volume density of samples are different in each period, indicating that the sintering process of samples is also different in each period. The sintering temperature of the Qujialing and Zhou Dynasty sample basically between 850? to 1050?.The sintering process have no big changes from Qujialing period to the late Western Zhou Dynasty, the sintering temperature of samples is about900?,the sintering process are basically the same and inferior to the early, middle, late spring and Autumn period and early Warring States period. The main mineral composition of Qujialing and Zhou Dynasty samples is quartz,it also contains some feldspar minerals,Ringwoodite, pyrope, grossular, almandine, olivine and sillimanite minerals,of which feldspar minerals are the majority. The micro morphology of Qujialing and Zhou Dynasty samples are very similar, contains a lot of quartz grain,a large number of holes, more voids and loose structure, the degree of sintering is also poorer.
