Reactive distillation is one of the chemical strengthen process methods.The application of reactive distillation can reduce capital expenditure,reduce energy consuming,improve selectivity,and decrease environmental emissions.Reactive distillation has been a hot research topic because of these advantages.This design strategy includes five parts: feasibility analysis,conceptual design,steady-state simulation and optimization,process control,and internals design.Most of the published literature on RD has been focused mainly on aspects feasibility analysis,conceptual design,steady-state simulation and optimization,process control and configuration design of internal.But relatively little attention has been paid to internals specific structure design and optimization.The Seepage Catalyst Packing Internal developed by our group can reduce the pressure drop,improve utilization rate of catalyst and the operating condition.In this paper the structure of SCPI will be optimized.The study can provide the guidance for the internal structure optimization and industrial application.Firstly,the structure of SCPI was studied.The gas undergoes twice the amount of contraction and twice the amount of expansion when it passes through an integrated element of SCPI.An integral model for design of the internal of SCPI for industrial applications and corresponding assumptions were developed.All model equations include reaction kinetic equations,vapor-liquid relationship equations,conservation equations,normalized equation and so on.The optimal internal structure in an integrated element of SCPI that includes the radius of catalytic distillation column,the height of avert-overflow baffles,the height of the catalyst containers?the height of the avert-overflow baffle and the width ratio between the catalyst containers and the corrugated metal sheets etc.The degree of freedom of Reactive distillation that combines chemical reaction and distillation can be analyzed referring the method for distillation.The model solution framework was presented to solve the mathematical model with an aim of the minimum total annual cost.The computational procedure was written using MATLAB software to solve the mathematical model.Lastly,the mathematical model of SCPI and the optimization strategy are applied to pilot-plant reactive distillation column of synthesis of amyl acetate.Total annualized cost(TAC)is used as the indicator to optimize the internal structure of SCPI.The pressure drop is the auxiliary target.The single reactive distillation column plate and multiple plates were regarded the research objects to optimize the internal structure of SCPI.Then,the relationship between the internal structure parameters(the width ratio between the catalyst containers and the corrugated metal sheets,the radius of catalytic distillation column)and the pressure drop was discussed.The study can provide the guidance for internal design and improvement of future pilot-plant and provide the theoretical basis for industrial application.
