In this study,new functional hyperbranched thermoresponsive polymer was synthesized from hyperbranched polyethyleneimine(HPEI).The interaction between the polymer and several kinds of surfactants has been investigated.By modifying the terminal amino groups of HPEI with isobutyric amide(IBAm)groups,hyperbranched thermoresponsive polymer was synthesized.IR and NMR were used for the characterization of the polymer(HPEI-IBAm0.80).Surfactants we used here contained anionic surfactants and cationic surfactants.Such as sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS),sodium myristate(SM),sodium laurate(SL),sodium decanoate(SD),sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS),dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(DTAB),dodecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride(DTAC),hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium chloride(1631)and hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTMAB).The influence of surfactants on the cloud point temperature(CP)of HPEI-IBAm0.80 in water was studied systematically,especially SDS.The concentration of the polymer as well as SDS influenced CP a lot.Meanwhile,the influence of SDS on the CP of HPEI-IBAm0.80 at different pH was different.Other methods such as NMR,fluorescence,zeta potential have also been used to investigate the interaction between HPEI-IBAm0.80 and surfactants.For comparison,the effect of SDS on two kinds of traditional thermoresponsive linear polymer was also studied.The thermoresponsive HPEI-IBAm0.80/SDS complex was attempted as host to accommodate non-polar guest,pyrene,in water.Compared with SDS alone,much less amount of SDS molecules were required to effectively enhance the solubility of pyrene in water when HPEI-IBAm0.80 was present in the system.
