Epoxy resin is a kind of polymer material with at least two epoxide groups on main chain.In dry condition,epoxy resin can keep chemical stability at room temperature for many years.When cured by hardener like amine or anhydride curing agent,epoxy resin become a cured production which has a three dimensions corsslinked net.Due to its outstanding adhesive property,mechanical stiffness and toughness and insulating character,epoxy resin can be widely applied to electronic package,high voltage insulting parts and transportation sector.However,epoxy resin is limited in some high-performance area because of its poor flame-retarding and hydrophobic property.Currently there are manr reports about flame retardance modification or hydrophobic modification to epoxy,but most of them only conerned on one properties.In this paper,organophosphates and organosilicone were used to impove epoxy resin's flame retardancy and hydrophobic property,respectively,and their relationship of component and performance were studied.The purpose of this work is to expand the application fields of epoxy resin and get scientific significance and practical value.DOPO-EP containing 10?30 parts organophosphorus was prepared from DOPO and E51.The reactivity of DOPO and the optimal process of DOPO-EP was tested by epoxide equivalent test.DOPO-EP was cured by MeTHPA.Then the thermal stability,flame retardancy,hydrophobic property,mechanical property of the cured DOPO-EP were tested.The results showed that when the addition of DOPO was 25 parts,the cured DOPO-EP could pass UL-94 V-0.However,with the increase of DOPO,the hydrophobic property of samples gradually reduced,and the surface contact angle fell to 63.5° from initial 85.5°.Hydroxyl silicone oil and epoxy silicone oil were used to modify DOPO-EP in order to improve the hydrophobic property.The compatibility of these two silicone oils and DOPO-EP could be greatly increased by KH550.The contact angle test results showed that the surface contact angle of epoxy modified by hydroxyl silicone oil was above 104.6° and the surface contact angle of epoxy modified by epoxy silicone was above 94.9°.The UL-94 test showed that the flame retardancy of DOPO-EP was reduced by both of hydroxyl silicone oil and epoxy silicone oil,but the the effects from epoxy silicone oil was comparatively small.In addition,hydroxy silicone oil was harmful to the mechanical properties of DOPO-EP while epoxy silicone oil could improve the strength and toughness with a certain amount.Phosphorus-containing organic silicon(DOPO-VTS)was synthesized from DOPO and VTS firstly.Then DOPO-VTS was gifted to DOPO-EP using one-pot method.It was found that the surface contact angle of modified epoxy's was greater than 92.4°with only 5 parts of DOPO-VTS.Moreover,the DOPO-VTS could improve the material's thermal stability and flame retardancy,simultaneously.However,the DOPO-VTS was prone to self-ploymerization,which resulting in the decrease of mechanical property in modified resin..
