Spiral bevel gear is the basic component in driving of intersecting axe.Because of its good performance,it is widely used in engineering.It is of great importance to study how to obtain a good contact zone of the tooth surface.This paper presents a new method of spiral bevel gear machining method-spread out helix modified roll,the passive gear is processing by generate method,and the driver gear is processing by spread out helix modified roll.Analyze this method by using mathematical tools and computer software.And carry out an experimental study by YHK2250.The main results and innovations of this paper are listed as follows:According to the principle of differential geometry and the principle of gear engagement,established machining coordinates of gear pair respectively.According to the processing principle,established tool cutting surface equation and meshing equation in the coordinate system respectively,then obtained the tooth surface equation of the gear pair.In accordance with the theory of the spread out helix modified roll,combined with the characteristics of standard tapered tooth spiral bevel gear,designed the gear pair and cutter parameters,determined the parameter adjustment of machine tool processing theory.Determined the range of parameters in equation of tooth surface,used numerical analytical method,substituted the data of gear pair,cutter and machine adjustment parameters to the tooth surface equation,then obtained the coordinate value of tooth surface,and established the accurate three-dimensional models of spiral bevel gear pair based on spread-out helix modified roll method.Carried out the simulation analysis on the 3D model to evaluate the contact zone,verified the performance in processing bevel gear meshing in theory,and eliminated the diagonal contact phenomenon in the contact area.Carried out the experiment in YKT2250 machine tool,and machined a pair of spiral bevel gear by generating method.Analyzed the defect of contact zone,provided the possibility for the application in engineering.
