The rail is an important part of the NC machine tool and the assembly quality of the feed system is the key factor to the quality of CNC machine tool. Therefore, this paper studies the bending deformation characteristics of the linear rail, then a new evaluation model of rail straightness and parallel degree has been presented. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) With the single-axis NC machine tool feed system as the object of this research and based on the power transmission line of the table of the NC machine tool, we can establish a CNC machine tool feed system viscous model.(2) The finite element linear rail model by using Finite Element Analysis is established, according to this finite element rail model, some results can be obtained including the results of the bending deformation of the horizontal load and vertical load, and we can simplify the deformation model of the rail. Finally, we verify the simplified model by comparing the finite element results with the calculation results.(3) To detect the bending deformation characteristics and the assembly quality, we invent a kind of fast measurement device. The geometric precision feature of the rail and the new method of assembly quality evaluation for CNC machine feed system have been validated on the self-made experimental platform. Finally, some tests are carried out to verify the correctness of mathematical model by changing the bending deformation characteristics of the rail. The test results are accordant with theoretical results, showing that the method of measuring and evaluating are reasonable and correct.An assembly quality fast measurement and evaluation method of machine linear axe based on rail bending deformation characteristics is presented in this paper, it can detect the assembly quality of CNC machines easier with lower costs and less time and the new test method is likely to be openings in the future.
