Fabric patterns and textures are important parameters to reflect the fabric surface information,and most of the fabric texture and patterns are of periodicity,with the change of interwoven rules and printing pattern distribution,their periodicity will a lso shows some simple or complex change.The failure of weaving and dyeing process may directly affect the quality of the fabric,so the online detection of periodic fabrics has a very significant influence for quality analysis and control.Methods for the detection of periodic patterns at this stage is mainly based on gray image processing,but when color image is converted into gray image,the loss of color information will make the final detected result not accurate.Therefore,chose the appropriate color channels to extract fabric periodicity is of great importance.This paper presents a kind of technology combine computer image processing and sum and difference histogram to estimate the periodicity of fabrics.Firstly,use the scanner to obtain fabric images and conduct image smoothing and contrast enhancement process to get better quality images for further study.Then calculate the sum and difference histogram to obtain the characteristic parameters,get the corresponding function curve and find cycle related information from the function diagram.periodicity is calculated based on the location of the peak in function curve,extract the periodic unit according the periodicity and form a composite image based on periodic unit,comparing synthetic image and the original fabric image to judge if the result is right.The main work of this paper is as following: 1)Obtain images of fabric and put appropriate preprocessing conduction on images to get a good quality images that are more convenient to process 2)Use the feature values of sum and difference histogram of gray images to study the periodicities that exist in images.According to the location of peaks in the function curve to get the relative values of periodicity.Extracting the texture based on the periodicities and use the texture to synthetic a new image.Compare the synthetic image with the original image to judge if the periodicity we get is right.3)Dealing with HSI images in the same way,and analyzing the difference of gray images and HSI images4)Analysising the influence of factors such as lean and resolution to this method,and study the application of this method in reality.
