Conventional treatment process of the coking wastewater is difficult to meet increasingly strict discharge standard of water quality requirements, therefore the study on the application of advanced treatment process of coking wastewater is pressing. A static experiment of ozone oxidation and a series of pilot scale tests of activated carbon/ ozone and ultraviolet/ ozone and activated carbon/ ultraviolet/ ozone collaborative catalytic oxidation process for the treatment of coking wastewater were conducted, taking the conventional biochemical treatment effluent of a coking plant in Shanxi province as the research object. By using the collaborative catalytic oxidation process and parameters concluded from pilot scale tests, the coking wastewater advanced treatment engineering was carried out, with design capacity of 10,000 m3/d. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The chemical oxygen demand(COD) index of coking wastewater after conventional biochemical treatment was 100~130mg/L. While ozonation alone, with ozone dosage of 50 mg/L and contact time of 30 min,the removal rate of COD was 22.6%.(2)for the synergistic oxidation combination of activated carbon and ozone, the adsorption of activated carbon was stronger than ozone catalysis;(3)for the synergistic catalytic oxidation combination of UV and ozone, the optimal UV intensity value was 0.63 mw/cm2;(4)while using synergistic catalytic oxidation of activated carbon, UV and ozone for coking wastewater treatment, with the condition that ozone dosage was 30mg/L, UV intensity was 0.63 mw/cm2, and activated carbon was dosage of 10 g/L, The removal efficiency of COD reached to 40.7%, and water quality of the effluent met the pollutant emission standard.(5) Based on the collaborative catalytic oxidation process and parameters above, advanced treatment engineering for biochemical treated coking wastewater with treatment capacity of 10000 m3/d was performed.Coking wastewater advanced treatment cost is 1.13 yuan perton.
