With the rapid development of industrialization process of modern society,modern life has brought so much convenience to us and people's living standard has been also improved,but we also have been suffering so many troubles from the environmental pollution.Under the background of increasingly serious water pollution,sewage treatment by artificial methods has become one of the important ways to solve the water pollution.Accurate measurement of water quality parameters is not only the important reference for sewage treatment decisions,also it decides the treated wastewater emission standards and whether it qualified.Learned from the experience of water monitoring overseas,our country also made significant development in water quality monitoring.But due to the backward technology and cost constraints,the on-line and realtime water quality monitoring system has not been widely used.Taking COD parameter as an example,COD parameter could stand for the content of organic matter of water in numerical description.The currently offline ways for COD measurement are based on manual sampling combined with the digestion of ways to get the results.The most common numerical measurements are the chemical method on the principle of chemical reaction,the electrochemical method with the principle of electrochemical,and the optical method whose application is not universal.Chemical method's result is the best,it's accurate,but the steps are numerous and complex,and also it is with pollution.Electrochemical measurement also has the accurate result,but also produce pollution.Its measuring instruments cost high,so it's difficult to economically acceptable to the vast number of consumers.Optical method is the simple way relatively,it has no chemical reagents,compared with the methods before are limited.And the proce ss requires for a relatively short time but it is with a restricted range.So baced on all above conditions,looking for cheap and accurate measurement has become the future trend of water quality.Artificial neural network modeling method is now the core of soft measurement technology.Theoretically it is possible to approximate any nonlinear function.So,many domestic and foreign scholars applied the Neural Network to soft measurement model for wastewater treatment.This issue also applied it to water quality online monitoring system.Combined ASM model,it builds artificial neural network model and determines the secondary variables.With the conventional five water quality parameters,it can infer the COD parameter.It reads the ph,dissolved oxygen,temperature,conductivity and turbidity parameters,then the data will be processed and COD parameter parameter will be infered after that.It can also store the data online at the same time.
