Carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic(CFRP)composites gained a lot of attention due to their good engineering properties,including high strength and stiffness combined with low density,fatigue endurance,impact resistance,damage tolerance,rapid manufacturing cycles,and recycling possibility.They are hopeful to be used as substitutes for the widely used thermosetting composites in aerospace and automobile applications.Thus far,fiber-reinforced engineering plastics,such as poly(ether ether ketone),polyimide(PI),and poly(phenylene sulfide)have been extensively researched due to their excellent mechanical properties,heat stability,and chemical resistance.However,there are few published reports on the effects of molecular weight on the properties of composites,and these works focused mostly on the effect of temperature,additional modifiers,and aging on the mechanical and thermal properties.Carbon fiber-reinforced thermosetting composites are the most widely used composite materials,which have high mechanical and thermal properties.But with the progress of science and technology,the thermosetting resin also has many disadvantages,so the researchers modified the deficiencies.In this paper,the thermoplastic resin has two disadvantages.First,the thermoplastic resin can only achieve great fluidity at high temperature;Secondly,the thermoplastic resin has a high viscosity.But it can not be well impregnated into the fiber,which will seriously affect the performance of laminates.For the disadvantages of thermoplastic resin,we added a small amount of epoxy resin to improve the system.The appropriate processing conditions were determined to obtain the appropriate fiber content and excellent composite laminates.Through the study of the preparation of prepreg with different solvents,we can get excellent prepreg.Then we explored different preparation process to obtain a better effect of fiber impregnation and excellent performance of the composite laminate.The dynamic mechanical properties,interlaminar shear strength,tensile strength and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)were used to characterize the properties of the laminates under different curing agents and different resin contents.The experimental results indicated that the prepreg could be well prepared by using DMAc.Then we discussed methods for the preparation of different laminates.DMA indicated that MPD and DDS curing agents had great influence on the laminates.Then the results showed that the M5% and M10% achieved desired effect by comparing five laminates with different resin contents.
