Since the industrial development and technological progress, environmental pollution is more and more serious, the ozone layer is destroyed. More ultraviolet radiation can penetrate the atmosphere and irradiate onto the ground. That is seriously harmful to the stability of the polymer material, and even is a threat to the human health. The clothing is an important measure to protect human skin. Because of the poor UV-resistance of cotton fabrics, it is more and more important for the application of UV-absorbers.Benzophenone UV-absorbers were widely used in the anti-UV finishing of cotton fabrics. It is inexpensive and it's absorption properties of ultraviolet is great. In general, however benzophenone ultraviolet absorbers can not form a chemical bond on the cotton fabric. So the durability is poor and the practicability is affected. On the other hand, the aqueous medium can not be used in the finishing process of cotton fabrics due to the poor water-soluble of benzophenone UV-absorbers. The problems of complex operation, serious environmental pollution and high cost were obviously in the anti-UV finishing of cotton fabric. So it is really necessary to research a new water-soluble UV-absorber, and this UV-absorber should have reactive functional groups.A reactive water-soluble UV-absorber,(4-((4-chloro-6-(((2R,3R,4R,5S)-2-(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)-4,5-dihydroxytetrahydrofuran-3-yl) oxy)-1,3,5-triazin- 2-yl) oxy)-2-hydroxyph-enyl)(phenyl) methanone(UV-DTM-1), was synthesized by using 2,4-dihydroxy benzophenone(UV-0), 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine(TCT) and diacetone glucose as the main raw materials. The whole reaction divided into three steps. Synthesis conditions were discussed by discussing the molar ratio of reactants?the amount of catalyst?reaction time and reaction temperature to get the highest yield of intermediates and the final product. The structure was characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and MS. The solubility and UV-absorption of UV-DTM-1 were also tested.The anti-UV cotton fabrics were prepared by reactive dyeing precess, and the optimum finishing condition is obtained as follows: 5%(owf) UV-DTM-1, 50 g/L Na2SO4, 2.5 g/L Na2CO3, 90?, 2h. The whiteness and breaking strength were also tested. The anti-UV cotton fabrics was characterized by IR and SEM. According to the test results, the UV-absorber UV-DTM-1 has been combined on the fabric.
