National costumes based on the Beijing institute of clothing museum as the research sample, combined with the collected data and field investigation data, the Eight-Point Star produced by pattern layout?shape characteristics?technological?cultural and moral systems analysis. Through the analysis, under different technological conditions, the design of the layout is different, in different ethnic aesthetic conditions also have different color and match. This article summarizes the main use of the Eight-Point Star in the southwest minority costumes, and tries to use it in the modern fashion design.
