Study On Safety And Functional Evaluation Of Dendrombium Tablets

With the rapid development of the economy,people have to accelerate their paces of life in such an increasingly competitive society.This leads to the growing number of people with sub-health state such as insomnia,fatigue,irregular meals.More and more people get disease due to immunocompromised state.Meanwhile,the number of people with liver damage resulting from exposure to chemical toxicants(alcohol or other toxic substances)is keeping increasing due to excessive stress of life as well as the deterioration of the living environment or tough living conditions.In those cases,alcoholism is growing significantly which impact people’s physical and mental health,also the family and social stability.Therefore,research and development on the health food with the functions of enhancing immunity and protecting liver from chemical injury has a significant meaning for the people who is immunocompromised or in the danger of chemical injury to liver.Because this product will improve immunity,chemical resistance and avoid poison damage to the liver.The purpose of this project is to develop a kind of health product-Dendrobium tablets with the function of strengthening the immune system and protecting liver from chemical injury.This product is using Dendrobium,ginseng,kudzu extract as the main raw material,based on the traditional Chinese medicine and modern medical theory and literature study.Taking modern preparation techniques and advanced quality control methods to produce this product which is expected to improve the health of immunocompromised persons or those people in danger of chemical injury to the liver.This project determines the formulation and process feasibility by referring to the relevant literature to get the physicochemical properties and health effects of the active ingredients in Dendrobium,ginseng,kudzu extract according to the "health food inspection and evaluation of technical specifications".In the acute toxicity test for Dendrobium,both sexes of mice orally took tablets of Dendrobium for acute toxicity test,MTD greater than 20.0g/kg.bw,according to the"health food inspection and evaluation of the technical specifications(2003 edition)",the acute toxicity grading standards,Dendrobium is nontoxic.In genotoxicity tests for Dendrobium,according to Ames test,mouse bone marrow micronucleus test,sperm abnormality test,the results were negative.Mice 30 days feeding trial,we used 25 times,50 times and 100 times to the recommended human daily amount of Dendrobium for the preparation of fodder to feed the rats for 30 days,each dose group of animal body weight,weight gain,food intake and food utilization rate compared with the negative control group had no significant difference(p>0.05);hematological,blood biochemistry,absolutely weight of organ/body weight ratio compared with the negative control group had no significant difference(p>0.05);histopathological examination,Dendrobium tablets on subjects had no significant organ damage.In determining Dendrobium health function test,rats orally took different doses of Dendrobium in 30 days,no adverse effects on weight gain in mice,no effect on the ratio of the weight ratio of the spleen and thymus weight,the cellular immune function and humoral immune function,monocyte-macrophage phagocytosis,NK cell activity assay results were positive,the results show that tablets of Dendrobium have enhanced immunity function.With high,medium and low-dose group and negative control group for mice experiments,the results of the test mouse liver tissue MDA,TG levels were lower than the positive control group(P<0.01);high dose group of GSH higher than any of the positive control group(P<0.01);three dose groups hepatic steatosis lower than the positive control group lighten(P<0.05).According to the "health food inspection and evaluation of technical specifications-2003",we can get the decision that Dendrobium tablets have secondary protection on chemical liver injury.Thus,we initially established Dendrobium tablets health function and development feasibility,to promote the industrial development of Dendrobium tablets as healthy food.
