Graphene oxide and its quantum dots have a wide range of applications in biological imaging, drug delivery, ion detection and other fields due to good photoluminescence and biocompatibility and huge specific surface area. However, the graphene oxide has variety surface structure and character, and the correlation between its fine structure and photoluminescence properties has not been built up yet. It is a basic scientific issue to clarify the photoluminescence mechanisms of graphene oxide and its quantum dots, which will benefit the design of graphene nanomaterials with wonderful characters. In this thesis we investigated the reaction conditions of dc arc-discharge method to generate 13C-labeled graphite materials from the 13C amorphous carbon source. Then on this basis, we prepared 13C labeled graphene oxide with different oxidation degree by solvothermal method with different reaction time. We also studied the fluorescence of graphene oxide with different oxidation degree, and confirmed that the reducing of oxidation degree will lead to the blue shift of fluorescence of graphene oxide. These researches will lay the foundation for fine structural study of graphene oxide using 13C labelling technology. Then, analysis the correlation of material structure and its photoluminescence and clarify the photoluminescence mechanism of graphene oxide, which will benefit the design of graphene nanomaterials with superior photoluminescence property.
