Study On Women’s Wear Design With A Reference Of The Visual Area Of Minnan Paper Cutting Art

Paper-cutting as a special symbol exists in the folk life and design. It presents the different meanings, models,crafts, styles and aesthetic characteristics for the different regional culture. Now the paper-cut is favored because of its strong regional characteristics and cultural connotation. Minnan paper-cut,the folk art in the Minnan region, has its unique artistic form.It is represented mainy by Zhangpu Paper-cut and Quanzhou Paper Cutting. Minnan paper-cut is certainly researched in the current literature. But it is quite scarce to be used in the field of women’s clothing design.So it has outspread meaning for this paper to apply Minnan Paper-cut art to the women’s clothing design. With the methods of literature data collection, practical investigation, real analysis and designing practice, the paper tries to find its corresponding point with women’s clothing design by analysing the characteristics of the modeling of Minnan Paper-cut, craft and technique, the composition and the pictures. In additon, the paper provides design theory basis through the practical design so that Minnan paper-cut art could obtain the comprehensive development and innovation by changing itself from decoration to function. The results of the study shows that the use of paper-cutting in the women’s clothing design is generally adopted paper-cut patterns by exaggerating deformation pattern directly.There are four kinds of using methods. Firstly,putting the paper-cut patterns as painted design in women’s clothing design. Secondly,combining the paper-cutting techniques with clothing. In the form of hollowing out, the lines are linked together, contrast each other and reveal the faint mystique. Thirdly, pasting the paper-cut on the clothing as patterns to make clothing more stereo and more layering. The last method is using the paper-cut patterns to do embroidery on the clothing. The paper breaks the traditional design which only dyes in the shoulder, collar, sleeve, and chooses the most common method of printing and dyeing paper-cut design based the research results. On the basis of the characteristics of Minnan paper-cut art, the study in the paper chooses the plant flowers decorating pattern with contracted clothing profile, and does dyeing experiment in different position of the clothes by the way of silk screen printing and dyeing. In conclusion, the paper shows the analysis of feasibility and the rules change in women’s clothing. It could be a basic reference for the use of paper-cut patterns in the clothing design.
