Massive emissions of nitrogen and phosphorus in wastewater cause serious deterioration of water quality, the control of nitrogen and phosphorus pollution becoming a serious problem. Currently, the main method of treat nitrogen and phosphorus in polluted water is physical chemical and biological, at low temperatures, the efficiency of using water plant to treat nitrogen and phosphorus is greatly reduced. Therefore, it's very urgent to search for efficient method of removing nitrogen and phosphorus in wastewater at low temperature. Algal Turf Scrubber can be simultaneously efficient removal of nitrogen and phosphorus pollutants in water, at present, the applications of Algal Turf Scrubber is mainly in temperate regions of North America, the research of using Algal Turf Scrubber remove nitrogen and phosphorus in low temperature has not been reported. This study is mainly to filter out the algae in the high plateau in the biofilm of algae species at low temperatures, and apply it to the laboratory simulation of removing nitrogen and phosphorus in the water and among the field of water treatment. It aims to provide a theoretical reference for the application of Algal Turf Scrubber in low temperature environments.In laboratory simulation of low temperature environment, use a landscape water in Fuzhou for algae screening experiments. The results showed that under simulated conditions of temperature, the flow rate was set at 133.4mL/min, gradient of 2%, after 25 days of operation, the Algal Turf Scrubber achieved good biofilm effect, the green algae is the dominant phytoplankton species in the platform, and to the genus of Ulothrix based. In the biofilm stage, the phytoplankton in the platform consists of green algae, diatoms, the proportion of Chlorella is between 68.7%-81.4%, the proportion of diatoms is between 17.8%?28.1%, the total biomass of algae on the platform was 2.90±0.33g/m2/d.With the above in filamentous green algae as the dominant species of Algal Turf Scrubber to remove nitrogen and phosphorus in water bodies (TP 0.20mg/L; TN 2.00mg/L) under laboratory simulation. The results showed that total phosphorus removal was 0.65±0.33mg/m2/d, the removal rate of total phosphorus is between 50.0%?90.0%; total nitrogen removal was 11.40±2.13mg/m2/d, total nitrogen removal rate is between 34.5%?94.5%, where the maximum of total phosphorus and total nitrogen removal rate is in the tenth day, is 90.0% and 94.5%. To study the applicability of the above-described apparatus of processing nitrogen and phosphorus in wild polluted water bodies, we used the field water (TN 3.21mg/L; TP 0.25mg/L) as the target water body, do the research at the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus, the results showed that, the removal rate of total phosphorus in water was between 60.0%?84.0%, the removal of total phosphorus was 0.95±2.58mg/m2/d,which in the tenth day the removal rate reach maximum, is 84%; the removal rate of total nitrogen was between 37.1%?69.8%,and the removal was 6.20±3.33mg/m2/d, of which, in the tenth day, the total nitrogen removal rate reached the maximum of 69.8%; ammonia removal rate was between 81.4%?91.7%,the removal of ammonia was 10.30±2.33mg/m2/d, and in fifteenth day, the ammonia removal rate reached the maximum of 69.8%;the removal rate of soluble reactive phosphorus was between 59.9%?98.2%, the removal of soluble reactive phosphorus was 0.24±0.32mg/m2/d, in tenth day, the removal of soluble reactive phosphorus can reach maximum of 98.2%; the dissolved oxygen in water from 2.88mg/L was increased to 10.30mg/L. It can be seen that, the Algal Turf Scrubber in which Ulothrix was the dominant species not only have a good effect in decreasing nitrogen and phosphorus in the water, but also have a significant aeration function, and the algae can be harvested for the resource utilization at the same time, it has great significance for expand the application of Algal Turf Scrubber in the future.
