(YLa)2O3,Ce:?YLa?2O3,Sm:?YLa?2O3,Pr:?YLa?2O3? Sm,Ce:?YLa?2O3 laser ceramic powders were fabricated by a co-precipitation method.?YLa?2O3,Ce:?YLa?2O3, Sm:?YLa?2O3 and Pr:?YLa?2O3 transparent ceramic samples with the size of ? 10 mm×l mm were fabricated by a cold isostatic pressing-vacuum sintering technique. The laser ceramic powders was characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The sample could be prepared under optimal conditions?i.e., calcination temperature was 1000? and calcination duration of 2h,solution p H=7,the molar ratio of La3+-doped was 10%,the molar ratio of Sm3+-dopedwas 1%,the molar ratio of Ce3+-doped was 1%?.The transparent ceramic sample could be prepared under optimal conditions?i.e.,ceramic blank thickness was 0.3g/piece, sintering temperature of 1800 ? and sintering duration of 20 h, the quality ratio of sintering aid TEOS was 0.3wt%,annealing at 1400 ? for 20 h in air atmosphere?.The properties of the powders have been characterized. It shows that Sm:?YLa?2O3 and Sm,Ce:?YLa?2O3 still hold cubic structure of Y2O3. The fluorescent strongest excitation peak of Sm:?YLa?2O3 and Sm,Ce:?YLa?2O3 were all at 408 nm, which corresponding to 6H5/2?4F7/2 transitions of Sm3+.The fluorescent strongest emission peak of Sm:?YLa?2O3 and Sm,Ce:?YLa?2O3 were all at 609 nm, which corresponding to 2F5/2?2F7/2 transitions of Sm3+.The absorption spectra and transmittence of ceramic sample have been tested.It has abundant absorption peak.The average transmittance of ceramic in a visable bond is 73% and the maximum transmittance in a mid-infrared bond is 77%.
