Chlorate is a kind of material which could self decompose under high temperature, even under alkaline condition. Because of the various characteristics of the chlorate, it could corrode nickel material in the environment of caustic soda existing. When under acidic condition, the chlorate could react with acid to generate chlorine gas, corrode the equipment, pipeline of the chlor-alkali plant, and affect the normal operation of the plant.How to reduce the chlorate content in the brine of the electrolysis plant is a topic researched by every chlor-alkali enterprise which produces solid caustic soda. In this issue, we do chlorate reduction technology research to Xinjiang Huatai chlor-alkali plant electrolysis workshop.(1) First introduce the imbalance of China chlor-alkali enterprises distribution and the chlor-alkali products sales market. To expand sales radius, survive in the market competition, many enterprises choose to produce different types of solid caustic soda products, but the chlorate will decompose and generate chlorine gas under the temperature of 250?, then react with nickel material equipment and generate nickel oxide taken away by alkali products, so that corrode the nickel equipment in the solid caustic soda section.(2) This paper fully analyze the generate reason of the chlorate, and according to the special properties of the chlorate, analyze its harm to the brine system, take some measures accordingly, reduce the effect of the chlorate to the plant.(3)Analyze three methods to reduce the chlorate in the system, those are physical replacement method, source control method and decomposition method, analyze the feasibility of each method, finally determine the feasible method to reduce the chlorate, that is adding HCL in the anode system and setting chlorate decomposition equipment in the brine system.(4) Emphatically introduce the decomposition principle of the chlorate decomposition tank and two factors affect the content of the chlorate, the running rate of the decomposition tank and the decomposition rate of the chlorate decomposition tank, analyze the affect factors of the running rate, make effective rectification. For the indexes which affect the decomposition rate of the decomposition tank, optimize by experimental method, so as to achieve the purpose of reducing the content of chlorate.(5) Summary the economic effects and environmental effects, immobilize the operation steps formed in the optimization index operation process in form of operating card, reduce the risk of accidents at the same time of optimizing decomposition tank operation effect.
