The azide compounds demonstrate a signal impact on organic compounds, especially it draw a great attention in the biological and medicine research. Taking advantage of the azide compounds and alkynyl compounds we can successfully synthesis the 1,4 distributed or 1,5 distributed cyclic compounds. It means a lot to the activity of biomedicine or the character of materials. In traditional way to synthesis the azide compounds has a lot of limitations, such as the acuity of the reaction conditions, bad selectivity, or low production rates. With the development of the azide-alkynyl reaction, many steps are being taking of, such as the CuAAC, Microwave dielectric heating, Simultaneous microwave-ultrasound processing, Ionic liquids as reaction media, Continuous flow processing. In contrast, we apply the rare earth to catalyst the azide-alkynyl reaction system. Rare earth has unsaturated 4f orbital which can bring a lot of special performance. According to its fast reaction rate, mild reaction condition and environmental friendly characteristic. In this study, we use the Neodymium as the catalyst to the reaction of azide-alkynyl cycloaddition.6 kinds of compounds were synthesized successfully and PEG hydrogels were made in this system. They were characterized by 2H NMR,13C NMR, FT-IR, MS, HPLC, SEM and TGA. Swelling degree, storage modulus and degradation were for the PEG hydrogels.
