Organic light-emitting diodes(OLED)have attracted considerable attention due to their various potential applications such as full-color flat panel displays,backlight for liquid crystal display(LCD),and next-generation light sources.Quinoline and its derivatives were also most commonly used as building blocks for increasing electron affinity of current electron transport materials for OLEDs,in which 8-hydroxyquinolineis was one of the excellent luminescent materials for organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs)up to now.The quinoline and isoquinoline with different positions of hydroxy-substituted can also have the same metal complex ability as 8-hydroxyquinoline is a question.In this papers,the other hydroxyquinoline,hydroxyisoquinoline,hydroxy tetrahydroquinoline and hydroxy tetrahydroisoquinoline were used as ligands to reaction with copper(II),aluminum(III)and zinc(II)respectively,and the complexation phenomena of them were studied.The reaction products were characterized by IR,FL and UV.The results showed that only8-hydroxyquinoline as ligands can form complex with metals.The other quinoline derivatives were not good ligands for forming complexes with central metal.The theoretical analysis of this results was carried out by DFT used Gauss calculation.The hydroxyquinoline were prepared successfully by Bernabeu’s methods used copper catalyst hydrolysis of corresponding bromoquinoline.Used the same method,we found that there are abnormal peaks in the 1H NMR spectra results of 4,5,6,7 and 8 substitute hydroxyisoquinoline.Since copper involved hydrolysis reaction,we judged that the copper may affect the NMR signal and the copper complex may be formed.The basic information of complex structures were studied furthermore.The structure of the complexs was analyzed by HRMS,1H NMR,IR,TGA,2D-NMR and deuterium water exchange.The results revealed that the complexes may be mononuclear and coordinated to N and O sites of two ligands molecules,and the intramolecular hydrogen bond was an essential factor for form complexes.
