The water in our country is not only shortage, also facing the problem of the pollution. This gives a great threat to the safety of drinking, especially in the rural areas with the under-developed infrastructure and the poor water quality. However, the membrane technology which has an excellent performance is so good at dealing with the rural polluted water and agricultural wastewater and improving the water quality that it deserves to be rapidly popularize application. This paper has thoroughly stated the factors that affect the properties of the hyperfiltration membrane of the Polyether Sulphone(PES),including the membrane environment,film-forming component, non film-forming component(solvent and additives),modification technology of surface and maintenance of membrane.Taking Polyethersulfone(PES)as membrane material,N-methylpyrrolidone(NMP)as solvent,we studied the influence of different kinds and concentrations additives on the structure and properties of polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membrane. We have found that when the additive is chosen as the PVP,the filtration performance of the polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membrane is proved to be the best;meanwhile,it is suitable to select the concentration of the additives to be 6%.On the other hand, when modified using radiation grafting,it will cause the degradation of the polyethersulfone, which affects the film-forming properties. In order to minimize the impact of the degradation on the structure and properties of the polythersulfone ultrafiltration membrane,we have studied the different irradiation conditions on the molecular weight of the polythersulfone, rotational viscosity of the casting film liquid and the filtration properties of the ultrafiltration membrane, and selected 10 KGy,6h as the irradiation conditions of the irradiation grafting modification experiments. It is chosen the N-vinylpyrrolidoneas the grafting monomer of the PES ultrafiltration membrane, and the bovine serum albumin solution as the contaminants.Through the contact angle, porosity, scanning electron microscopic image of the internal structure and the rotational viscosity of the casting solution of the ultrafiltration membrane,we have analyzed and evaluated the structure and properties of the polythersulfone ultrafiltration membrane. It's shown that the hydrophilic of the modified polythersulfone ultrafiltraion membrane enhances largely, the internal structure changes little and the contamination resistance has a substantial increase while maintaining the rejection rate almost constant or declined slightly. It is obvious that improving anti-pollution ability of the polythersulfone ultrafiltraion membrane can extend the lifetime of the membrane and reduce the cost. Therefore, preparing more excellent performance of the ultrafiltration membrane can better improve the quality of water pollution and protect the safety of drinking for the rural masses.
