With the worsening environmental problems in the world today, designers have begun to continue to extend the field of design, think about how to reduce the impact of products on the environment in order to meet the needs of users, economic value and other elements. In recent years, on the basis of sustainable design product service system design strategy was put forward. The design strategy aims to combine the products and services, to provide users with a systematic, sustainable solution. At present, the research contents of product service system mainly focus on the basic concepts, classification, development status and design methods, etc., research in the field of design process and application also began to develop. Through researched infrastructure, human environment of ecological communities and other content have learned its sustainability residents behavior, lifestyle and other aspects have yet to be studied. This paper will introduce product service system into the ecological community, the aim is to dig it’s sustainability in China, at the same time to explore the application of product service system and the design method and process.This paper mainly studies the product service system evolution, classification, key elements, the existing design method and process, etc., summarizes the procession of the evolution of ecological community, evaluation method, case, etc. In theoretical research on the basis of the combination of both necessity, key points of the research and design methods and tools, and summarizes the ecological community selection, user research, insight into the needs, build stakeholder, system concept design, product and service design, final system definition and evaluation system of eight steps of design process, the process is mainly used for construction of the product service system design strategy under the guidance of ecological community. In this paper, we will study four aspects of the food source, food transport, food preservation and food waste disposal in Dalian Yida Springfield ecological community, and as the research object practice. And proposed agricultural community, online ordering, community’s public preservation station, food waste compost and other organic design strategy with product service system characteristics, dig the environmental value, economic value and social value of food service systems and so on. By comparing the evaluation concluded that the service system to meet the residents of fresh food, shopping, save time and effort, save energy, such as demand, at the same time, improve the ecological sustainability of the community, to verify the feasibility of the proposed design process.The innovation of this thesis is the design strategy of product service system into the ecological community, research on key points of the combination and design process. But because the product service system involving multiple disciplines, this article may not be able to cover a comprehensive. The goal of this paper is to explore how to use the product service system to achieve the sustainable development of the ecological community through improving the behavior and behavior patterns of the residents.
