As a kind of chemical raw material of extreme importance, isopropanol can be used as solvent and extractant, meanwhile, it can also be used as intermediate composing common chemical products, and it occupies an irreplaceable position in a mount of areas on account of its wide-range in application, so there is a vast potential for future development for market of manufacturing isopropanol in domestic.At present, the production process of manufacturing isopropanol is direct hydration of propylene in China. With the process of direct hydration of propylene becoming mature, preparing a new kind of catalyst with characteristics including low cost, stability, poor corrosion and little pollution is an important research area at the present stage. As a carrier, activated carbon has a lot of advantages such as large surface area and good thermal stability which will obtain the potency with the ability of loading huge active components and high stability to produce a kind of solid phosphoric acid catalyst. By using a grafting material to combine activated carbon with phosphoric acid, and covering with a protection material over the active ingredient component will improve the phosphoric acid load strength and reduce the loss of the active ingredient, which will enhance the activity and stability of catalyst. Zeolite Selony Mobil No.35 has a lot of advantages such as large surface area, good thermal stability, good at resisting to coke formation and shape-selective catalysis, wide-ratio of silicate to aluminium. By improving the process of preparing ZSM-35, it will enhance the conversion of propylene and the selectivity of isopropanol while catalyzing the reaction of hydration of propylene.This paper studies the influence factors including loading amount of phosphate acid, the kind and the covering amount of protect components, the pretreatment of activated carbon, calcination duration and calcination temperature during the process of preparing the catalyst of phosphoric acid supported on activated carbon on catalyzing the reaction of hydration of propylene.This paper also studies the influence factors including reaction conditions that contain temperature, pressure and water/propylene (molar rations), modification approaches and addition of bonder on catalyzing the reaction of hydration of propylene, and reviews the stability of ZSM-35 catalyzing the reaction of hydration of propylene that last for 1200 hours.
