With the progress of science and technology, the development and production of automation equipment has been rapid development, coupled with the demand on coal mines, convenient energy exploitation. At the same time the power supply system is becoming more and more complex. Based on the mine complex production and the working environment, leading to the cable used is very vulnerable to a variety of failures. If these failures can not be excluded timely and effectively, that would cause an explosion because of the mine moist air, high concentrations of coal dust and other circumstances. Which could cause unpredictable damage to personnel and equipment. Therefore, timely and effectively to determining the cause of the fault and confirming the point of failure is so major significance for troubleshooting for coal mine safety production. But the cable fault location method is not perfect, therefore, for the underground cable fault location method research has the vital significance.This paper mainly studies the mine cable fault point location methods. Firstly analyzed the background of the mine cable fault, the problems existing in the current cable positioning technology, it is concluded that the importance of research of mining cable fault location; further more in prompted fault location research status and step that analyzes of the mine cable fault causes and principles of classification, coarse methods, precise positioning principle of the method; secondly it analysis of the cable in the event of a fault transient fault generated traveling wave, and we can analyze to obtain important data for locating faults from traveling wave, so the paper studies its features. Currently, based on wavelet analysis not only obtained in cable fault location in a good development and application but also has its unique advantages in dealing with transient signals. This paper studies the wavelet theory, and on this basis puts forward curves based on wavelet quasi combined cable fault location method.Using this method not only fitting curve smooth and monotonic guaranteed, but also reduces the effect of noise on fault diagnosis, thereby enabling to obtain a more accurate fault location. In addition, for the special case of mining cable power supply system which fault information can not mine under synchronization acquisition that we propose a single-ended impedance-a combination of traveling wave location method which can effective reliability advantages of high accuracy of the traveling wave method and the impedance method advantages cleverly combined together.Experimental results show that the method is effective to improve the accuracy of fault location.
