A large number of emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases lead to global climate change. The adverse effects it brings to human and ecological environment have caused widespread concern in the whole society. In order to prevent the continued warming of the global change, a lot of efforts have been made to control carbon emissions. Studies on carbon emissions have been increasing.Shanxi is a typical resourceful province. Its high carbon energy structure is dominated by coal and its industrial structure is relatively simple, thus leading to its high carbon emissions, serious pollution, the intensity of economic energy consumption and low ability to resist risk. In order to adapt to the boom of global low-carbon development, Shanxi is exploring low-carbon development mode suitable for the local area, so it is necessary to know about the current situation of energy consumption.According to the "Statistical yearbook of Shanxi province", the following statistics can collected including energy consumption, land-use data, crop yield, population, domestic GDP data. Based on relevant documents and the 2006 IPCC guidelines for national greenhouse gas inventory, it calculates and analyzes the carbon footprint, carbon capacity, net carbon footprint, per capita carbon footprint, carbon footprint, carbon footprint intensity, the industry's carbon footprint, carbon footprint level by coal, oil, electricity and natural gas energy in Shanxi province by the methods of quantitative analysis and comparative analysis. Finally, SPSS software is used to analyze of the influencing factors of carbon footprint, and suggestions are put forward. Conclusions are as follows:(1) From 2000 to 2013, the total amount of carbon footprint of Shanxi was generally increased, but there was a little fluctuation. The carbon footprint of the four from more to less was as follows:coal, electricity, natural gas, petroleum, and the growth rate of the carbon footprint from fast to slow is natural gas, oil, electricity and coal.(2) The carbon capacity of Shanxi relied on land and crops. The main contents was forest and carbon capacity of crops depended mainly on corn and wheat. The per capita net carbon footprint, carbon footprint, carbon footprint intensity, density value of carbon footprint were not consistent with the global climate change, so the task of carbon emissions reduction of Shanxi Province was still very tough. In the four industries, the output of carbon footprint from more to less was the second industry, the third industry, people's everyday life and the first industry.(3) It was found that the carbon emission index of Shanxi province had risen from a very low level (Ib) to a lower level (Ic), and the overall environmental quality had declined.(4) Finally through SPSS software, it can be seen that the carbon footprint of Shanxi province is closely related to the total energy consumption, GDP, population quantity, and the relationship between carbon footprint and carbon footprint compares is small, but it has negatively relation with the intensity of carbon footprint. And in view of these influencing factors, the corresponding measures have been put forward.
