Rose essential oil is a complex mixture, which has hundreds of natural compounds, including some of the trace elements that have not yet been identified. Natural rose essential oil has a unique favor and magical effect, and it is the synergy of these organic molecules, that fully reflect the magical charm of natural creation, difficult to exceed by the synthesis process. For hundreds of years, people have been working hard to study and improve the way and equipment of rose essential oil, to find better ways to extract and enrich the essence of rose aromatic substances, and to produce natural rose essential oil with economic value higher than gold. At present, natural rose essential oil of the domestic and foreign has many varieties, with differences in quality and price. In addition to the differences in rose varieties and planting methods, extraction and processing technology is the key factor affecting the quality of rose essential oil. As the essence of the natural product, the highest state of the extraction and processing of the essential oil from rose is to keep the natural proportion of the aromatic substances in the rose as much as possible. The method of essential oil extraction, whether it is water steam distillation, organic solvent extraction or supercritical fluid extraction, is based on the principle of chemical engineering. Upon the use of a single process, it is often difficult to retain all the aromatic components of flowers, and some of the ingredients are left in the rose hydrosol. In order to produce the essential oil which is more close to the natural flowers, this paper proposes the concept of holographic rose essential oil.The raw materials of the holographic rose essential oil include the oil obtained by conventional steam distillation and volatile organic aromatic compounds recovered from the rose hydrosol. The two are blended through a reasonable proportion to into holographic rose essential oil. Compared with the steam-distillation oil, the advantage of holographic rose essential oil is that the composition of the material is richer and more close to the natural rose flowers, and the efficacy and fragrance is better than the conventional rose essential oil. In addition, the preparation process of the holographic rose essential oil recycles aroma components in rose hydrosol, which is beneficial to improve the yield and economic value of rose essential oil.Regarding the holographic rose essential oil and innovation of its preparation technology, this paper presents the comprehensive scientific research from many aspects, such as process, analysis and product comparison. The main contents are as follows:(1) Study on the process of recycling rose fragrant substances from rose hydrosol with liquid-liquid extraction. Secondary oil is extracted from rose hydrosol, the byproduct of essential oil distillation, with the yield up to 0.048%. It indicated that in the production of rose essential oil by steam distillation, a lot of water-soluble organic aromatic and volatile compounds were left in aqueous solution. Although the redistillation can recover part of the essential oil, the efficiency is low. This paper study the recovery of secondary oil, using liquid-liquid extraction, and the yield was chose to that of the essential oil, which has the value of industrial application. Further, the chemical composition of secondary essential oil was analyzed by GC-MS. It was mainly alcohols and terpenes. The compound with the highest content is phenethyl alcohol.(2) Study on the extraction process of essential oil by steam distillation. In the experiment, the dried rose flowers were used as raw material. The steam distillation process was set as, solid to liquid ratio 1:8, adding 5% concentration of sodium chloride and standing for 4 hours, distillation for 3 hours. Because the production rate of rose essential oil is low and, oil-water separation of small scale is difficult, the reinforcement method was used. This included adding hexane before or after distillation and collecting distillate and refrigerating. By comparing the differences in composition of rose essential oils obtained by different methods, it is confirmed that the method of adding hexane before distillation can overcome the difficulty of oil-water separation, which is beneficial to the recovery of oil through steam distillation.(3) The chemical compositions, physical and chemical properties and aroma quality of several rose essential oils were compared, including primary essential oil (from fresh flowers and dried flowers), secondary oil and chemically synthesized essential oil. The intrinsic reasons for the differences in the apparent quality of essential oil was revealed. The results provided the basis for the development of standard rose oil close to the natural rose aroma.(4) Using the aroma composition of fresh rose flowers as the reference system, the essential oil obtained by steam distillation and the secondary oil extracted from rose hydrosol as raw materials, the holographic rose essential oil was studied and the standards of blend process was determined. The aroma composition of holographic essential oil prepared is better than that of rose essential oil obtained by single process. Its scent and efficacy was closer to the characteristics of natural flowers, not only in the fresh headspace aroma, but also in the rich and lasting basic note.
