The North China Plain is one of the most important agricultural assembly zones, which is a mian commodity grain production base of China. With rural economy developing and rural manpower transferring, the usage value of crop straws reduced gradually and crop straws burning became more and more serious, air pollution caused burning crop straws became serious environmental issues, thus,it is very meaningful for controlling crop straws burning and protecting the atmospheric environment to analyse crop straws burning phenomena. We have gotten statistics of the temporal and spatial distribution situations of hotspots and scars of crop straws burning and aerosols generated by crop straws burning and analyzed the feasibility of the monitoring of crop straws burning based on AOD from three aspects followed.(1)we took crop straws burning hotspots,10 meter wind field and AOD into consideration to analyze the meteorological mechanism of the case of the PM10 pollution from 1 to 9 June 2009 in Anhui and its neighboring provinces,to probe the feasibility of using 10 meter wind,MODIS crop straws burning hotspots,MODIS AOD and PM10 data to monitor the status of crop straws burning.(2)by tracking the air mass of the case of the PM10 pollution in Fuyang on June5,2009 by the simulation of the HYSPLIT model,we analyzed the backward trajectory of the case and estimated the possible sources of the PM10 pollution event in Fuyang, providing a reference of studying pollutants transporting through different regions.(3)in order to analyse the relation between hotspots and AOD,we chose hotspots and AOD of June 5,2008,June 7,2011,June 8,2011,June 11,2006 and 2013 June13 to calculate the correlation coefficients between hotspots and AOD,studying the quantitative relation between hotspots and AOD.The following conclusions based on the above study clearly illustrated:(1)MODIS hotspots went from south to north as the winter wheats were reaped gradually from south to north and the areas and distributions of MODI S crop straws burning scars of May and June fluctuated greatly from 2004 to2014.(2)Crop straws burning hotspots and scars in the Huaihe River watershedof Anhui Province clustered basically from 2004 to 2014,with showing that crop straws burning phenomena were highly affected by the man-made factors and hadstrong geographical characteristics.(3)The annual AOD average values from June 1 to June 12 were basically above 2.0 from the point of view of the daily changesof AOD average values in the Huaihe River watershed of Anhui Province from 2004 to 2014,the zones of high AOD values lay in the northeast of the Huaihe River watershed of Anhui Province from the point of view of the averagedistributions of eleven years from 2004 to 2014 in the Huaihe River watershed of Anhui Province and about one seventh of the area of the Huaihe River watershed of Anhui Province is covered by aerosols produced by crop straws burning during the crop straws burning period from June 2 to June 11.(4)there was a significant consistence between the crop straws burning hot spots,10 meters wind field and the spatial distribution of AOD,which showed that it was feasible to monitor the crop straws burning by using AOD data.(5)the transported pollutants related to the case of the PM10 pollution in Fuyang on June 5,2009 mainly came from the western Fuyang, the middle part, southeast part of Henan province and the northern, eastern part of Hubei province, showing that the pollution generated by crop straws burning is diffused between regions and it was very necessary to strengthen regional united precautions and controls of crop straws burning.(6)The areas of correlation coefficients between AOD and hotspots above0.5 account 28.8% of the Huaihe River watershed of Anhui province, which showed that crop straws burning increased significantly the value of regional AOD.
