The early coal production order is chaotic in China, there are many small coal mines, resulting in many gobs that geological conditions are unknown. And the geological conditions are complex, great threat is brought to production safety in coal mines. Taking drilling exploration in large area, the cost is high, quantity is large and construction time is long. The coal mine will have great economical pressure. Therefore, proper geophysical prospecting is used to explore abnormal area, drilling project is reduced, this will greatly improve the exploration precision and save the cost of exploration, so the safety production is guaranteed in coal mines.The relevant geological data is collected in Tie Feng Coal Mine before the integration, characteristics of gobs are analyzed, the geophysical characteristics of gobs under different mining scales and coal bed are summarized. At the same time, according to the specific geological conditions in Tiefeng Coal Mine, the transient electromagnetic geophysical prospecting is used to implement ground detection in Tiefeng Coal Mine. During the detection process, the terrain correction test of data of transient electromagnetic geophysical prospecting and working parameters test are carried out respectively. The influence of complex terrain on the transient electromagnetic exploration results is analyzed, the terrain correction formula of transient electromagnetic exploration is deduced, reasonable working parameters are selected. The apparent resistivity opleth map that is obtained after analyzing exploration data is analyzed, abnormal area of high and low resistivity zones are divided, the abnormal reason of high and low resistivity is inferred according to the geological information of Tiefeng Coal Mine, so the location and scope of gobs and collapse column are inferred. And it is proved by drilling, practical production is guided and the safe mining of coal resources is ensured.
