This paper studies the plate blank spacing control technology of the Walking-beam Furnace which makes the space of different plate blank in the furnace more reasonable and the heating operation more flexible in accord with the technological requirements. The research helps to improve the heating quality,reduce product defects, save energy consumption and increase the economic benefit of enterprise. Meanwhile, it is beneficial to protect the equipment to extend its life,save maintenance cost, accelerate rolling rhythm and increase production by improving the controlling precision of the Walking-beam Furnace.The design and control of Baosteel Heavy Plate Walking-beam Furnace references the general design of the normal hot rolling heating furnace at home and abroad, whose space step of the plate blank is fixed. While the heavy plate’s blank has more varieties, the heavy plate produce is different with the normal hot rolling, which increases the heating control difficulty of different width and thickness plate in the furnace. Thus it results in a serial of problems like can’t make sure the plat has been heated equably or thoroughly; easy to cause steel sticking and plate heating equality, which will influence the surface quality of the end steel product directly.Firstly, this paper established the mathematical setting model of the plate blank spacing on the basis of the information produced during the production by making use of the regression equation. Secondly, on the side of Basic Automation Control, combined with the characteristics of the controlled object, this paper designed the outfit steel positioning neural network PID controller, take advantages of the self-learning and adjusted weighting coefficient of the neural network; it can export the PID controller’s parameters under the optimal control frequency. In addition, it designed the alterable outfit steel speed basis on the plate blank weight for the mode select, which improves the positioning and control accuracy of the charge machine. It improved the positioning accuracy by rational setting the variable speed position of the Walking-beam, and reduced the step error of the Walking-beam by adding the function of the Walking-beam step auto repairing. On the aspect of the process control, it redesigned the mathematical model of counting the vacancy in the furnace by bring in the plate blank spacing parameters to take part in the regulatory function, and realized the function of following things in the Furnace after dynamic regulate the plate blank spacing. Above all the theory study, by using the Siemens S7-400 series PLC, PCS7 programming software and WinCC6.0 configuration software, this paper designed, the software and hardware of Basic automation and process computer in the control system, which make the plate blank spacing dynamic regulate control technology of the Walking-beam Furnace come true, reduced the temperature difference on the width direction of the plate blank in the furnace, improved the uniformity of the heating temperature of the Walking-beam furnace plate blank, and finally improved the heating quality of the Walking-beam furnace plate blank.The research result has got good effect and economic benefit in the production process of the Heavy Plate Walking-beam Furnace in Baosteel. The designed standard control functional module can use not only in the present Walking-beam Furnace, but also in the similar Walking-beam Furnace at home and abroad, and the relate control technology has applied to the state invention patent.
