As the metallurgical vessel, tundish is an important process of improving the quantity and quality of the bloom. The configuration affects the flow field and temperature field. Reasonable configuration can improve the flow characteristic, and uniform the composition and temperature, and remove the inclusions in liquid steel. Thus, the quality of bloom is improved.In this thesis, we conduct the research based in the T-type and five strand bloom tundish, on the basis of physical and mathematical simulation. In the research we study the flow and temperature field under the use of different control devices. And we obtain the optimum flow control devices at the same time. The main results are as follows:(1) Owing to the limitation, the distance between the outlets and the injection stream are very different, thus the minimum residence time between the outlets are different from each other, the flow is not balanced.(2) By setting the diversion wall, the turbulence inhibitors and the dam with inclined hole, the fraction of piston flow zone volume increase, the fraction of dead zone volume dropped to 24.8%. In addition, the minimum residence time and peak time come to consistency, the average residence time increased significantly.(3) The turbulence inhibitors promote mixture; it is helpful to uniform the velocity, composition and temperature. At the same time, it is beneficial to decrease the erosion. The dam with incline hole can stop the fluid flowing along the bottom, thus increase the residence time and avoid the fluid flowing out quickly and directly.(4) After optimized, the temperature distribution in the tundish is even, the temperature gradient of the distribution area is small, the max temperature difference in the free area is only 24K, and the lowest temperature zone only exists in the corner and the area is small. In addition, the temperature fields of the outlets are consistence.Studies have shown that the results of physical simulation and mathematical simulation are consistent. They both show that the tundish can obtain reasonable flow and temperature field with the flow control devices of the diversion wall, the turbulence inhibitors and the dam with incline hole.
